I'm really impressed that at her age she had such a toned physic from her love of climbing, yet schools removed rope climbing and things like gymnastics in most schools. She should serve as an example as to why we should bring such programs back. I hope now that she is an adult that she can further promote climbing as well as a role model.

@A t h e n a what my elementary school did was instead of it going vertical, they did it horizontally and (I believe) only let the 4-5th graders on it. Although, it was "small" because the installation fees were expensive. It was ridiculously fun climbing it and many of the kids were happy when we did do rock climbing!

Many Schools especially public schools lack funding for extra programs if u want schools to bring that back look at where your taxes are going

@@vguyver2 I’m gonna be honest I don’t know too much about taxes (I don’t pay them yet) all I know is when they are paid where they go matters an awful lot. So I hope the adults that are paying aren’t being dummies about who they elect to handle their cash!,, Also my mother is a teacher in cps and as far as I know her building didn’t have working air conditioners till last year and some of the computers are so old they sound like airplanes. Haven’t read the article but will look into it after commenting this.

You go girl. I used to climb when I was younger (and used a wheelchair). I still use a wheelchair but can no longer climb however, I relate to the way you describe climbing "as a dance". This is amazing! I’m a 12 year old girl rock climber, and I’m always looked down upon at the gym because I’m young and a girl. I feel so inspired to keep climbing because of videos like these. Also, 5.15 is extremely hard, my best is 5.11 I’m just so happy for her! Lots of love from another rock climber

Women truly are incredible climbers. Light weight, flexible/increased joint mobility, fine motor control, lower centre of gravity in the hip region. A guy can get too bulky to climb like this but a female won't put on as much weight in order to gain strength.

Men have higher bone and muscle density than women due to testosterone. However nothing beats hard work and practice. You can surpass someone genetically gifted if you train hard enough

BF TE Perhaps that’s useful when lifting weights in a gym but not much use climbing. Light, efficient and flexible muscles are better for climbing. It’s all about strength to weight ratios and technique...not power. In fact men tend to be disadvantaged at first BECAUSE they tend to use power over technique

I always wanted to do this... just never acted on it, I am pretty young, so I could get into it. I do remember I was usually really good at climbing those walls as a kid, really fast, and found it fun. But I don’t even think we have a gym for this

Correction for 0:57 I believe the first female to climb 5.15a was Margo Hayes. Ashima was the second woman to climb 5.15a, the youngest person to climb 5.15a, and the first woman to send a v15 boulder

My hands got sweaty looking at the height she was at omfg 😨😨😨 once I tried to rock climb at a center and my anxiety was so bad that as soon as they strapped me in I couldn't stop shaking and I couldn't even get up like a foot before I started screaming to be let down lmao it was more embarrassing bc it was during a class trip to the center so everybody saw 💀💀this girl is fucking amazing

@That Flippin Guy but the thing is... you can learn pullups while climbing! I'm on 5 now, went from 0 to 3 almost purely by climbing.
