The funny thing is Hurdy Gurdys play look like they play exactly like music should be played in my mind. The back and forth of the (stick?) And the keys being touched making the clicking but also changing tune. Beautiful beyond words.

Aqua Marine apparently it’s like a violin because the crank turns a wheel with something on it kinda like a bow People also say people who play guitar are able to learn it pretty easily as well

@@Ella-pf1mu I play and the crank itself is not hard, learning how to get all 4+ of the buzzes with the trompette in the right spot is the hard part. Overall it is a relatively easy instrument to learn, but hard to master.

@@jamesc8259 I had a chance to play hurdy gurdy once, and I can say it´s a remarkably intuitive instrument! You can go very far by just playing a lot. The learning curve is nowhere near that of a guitar or a piano. So I would say just go for it!

This particular instrument has a calming effect that I find difficult to put into words! Pleasant, I suppose does the best job.

Only watched a few videos of your channel (just found it) and trying to figure this thing out. I thought I had most of it expect the 6 strings on top and bottom.Then you throw in the drum beat. MIND BLOWN!

this guy is a master of his art.Fabulous.I would love to be a fraction as talented as Andrey.These instruments are soooo expensive that i could not justify buying one but after 20 years in the garage i have finally built a Henry 111 gurdy (still cost nearly £500 as a kit 25 years ago..gulp).Mine looks and sounds pretty rough until i set the tangents and fettle the bridges propery. I have been intrigued by the instrument for decades.It is the sound of the middle ages and i can imagine the pilgrimage to Canterbury everytime i hear it.Very special instrument and player/composer.Magic.

I wish there was more in the video description about the piece itself. The title is evocative, but there is no information about its origin. This is typical of most of the videos on this channel. Are they really medieval compositions, or are they "inspired by?" That the drone is supplied by an organ tends to suggest that this is somewhat less than period-authentic. The hurdy-gurdy shown in these videos is quite sophisticated, much more so than the street-musician version most people think of when they hear the term "hurdy-gurdy." It's hard to imagine that this instrument typifies truly medieval equipment. The music is pretty, and often sad. I like this. Is it Medieval? Well, as I said, notes in the video description would be most helpful.
