I took my GT500 down a bunch of backroads for the first 1000 miles and I have some very curvy roads where I live lol I did what you said by varying the RPMs etc. I have 3000 miles on the car now and I'm doing my first oil change this coming weekend. When I've checked the oil during the course of driving it I've have no consumption at all and So far so good! I'm also loving that new GT350 man! 👍

Agreed. And the GT350 is such a special car with the combination of handling and power. The first thing that got me into cars was a book called Carrol Shelby Racing Cobra, which covered the cobra and had a little blip on the mustangs. The current model does a great job honoring that history. And I like the 350 more than the 500

JUST HAD MY ENGINE REPLACED. I got the long block replacement which is almost a crate. I bought the car used at 20K. At my scheduled oil change I had used 18qts. I was adding a quart every 1-2 fill ups. 18qts in 8k miles. did the consumption test. failed. checked the PCV valve, did all the tests Ford asked for and then they said yes. SO, I now have a 2017 GT350 with an engine with 97 miles. I need this video.

It's hard keeping your foot off the gas pedal. Especially when all the action is above 3K RPM. One thing that helped me was setting the shift light to 3K RPM during the break in period. That gave me enough time to see the lights flash before I hit 4K RPM.

Engines blowing up are common up 2018, then they dropped in the gen 2 engine block used in the gt350 and gt500. Buy a used gt350 that received a crate engine replacement that is the new block. Those replacement crate engines were being delivered in 2019.

Whats your oil temp when you're breaking it in the first 100miles? Because ive heard from other people you want it around 140⁰C when going over 2500rpm
@goesfastandfar
@goesfastandfar 4 жыл бұрын
The strange thing is, if you follow the Ford manual break-in procedure, it doesn't say you can't rev over 4000rpm and even allows for full throttle as long as it's not extended for the first 100 miles; no extended WOT until 1000 miles. I've always done the deceleration thing with new engines- first three gears, three times each up to 6000 rpm and always seats real good. Always warm up the engine to operating temp first. I guess everyone has their way of doing it. The GT350 is an amazing car. Enjoy it!
@carstuff4u942
@carstuff4u942 4 жыл бұрын
Pro tip. Your foam temp fix, will make the gravel stop from resting on your lower side skirts. It won’t help at all on the rear qtr panels. I had a black 2017 and had those foam inserts too. My rear qtr panels were destroyed in the first 1k Miles. You MUST get the front mud flaps ASAP

Now it has 2200 miles and won’t drive it until I change the oil. The oil level was the same for the first 2k miles. It was checked at every fill up. I also have a 2020 Model.

The supplemental manual doesn't give a lot of detail other than no competition driving until 1000 miles. I kept mine under 4k when I could. I admit revving to 6k maybe twice under 1000 miles. I then changed the oil at 1000 miles. No oil consumption. About 15k on the odometer now on my 2018.

I absolutely LOVE the GT350 but with all the engine failures and Ford not being very friendly when it came yo buy backs or fixes has turned me off and decided to get a regular GT instead. So far I love it too but the main thing that bothers me is how the rear end feels loose like it moves from time to time. Also, that MT-82D shifter is so sloppy. Those are my main issues with it but considering how reliable and fun it's been, I can't complain. So far I've done a BMR subframe mod and an oil catch can. Will continue to upgrade the suspension to see if that rear end sloppiness goes away but so far it only fixed it a bit, I can still feel it but it's much less pronounced and definitely feels better on the corners

2019 R owner here, wanted to get your thoughts... I’m just over 100 Miles, my first 65 miles were mostly around town driving, varying speeds, I almost always rev match down shift. The other 20 or so miles were on the high way a bit where I did get into higher speeds 80-90mph....i never really sustained more than 10 miles of steady speed.. I never once revved above 4K.. how do you think I did?
@DrivewayDemons

@GC-ti1vz
@GC-ti1vz 4 жыл бұрын
Driveway Demons hey yes, there was definitely some de-accel naturally from just driving and having to slow down. I’ll do some more in the next 100 miles. I’ll prob continue to be conservative with the revs for another 150 miles. I also give the car very light gas. I may start going to half throttle, getting up to 4K a little quicker.. still mostly babying the car and not doing any long runs on the highway at sustained 2.5k rpm for tens of miles at a time. Good luck with your new ride!

Ok that's cool its a beautiful car I had my issues with my 2018 GT350 with only1800 miles when i got it probably due to the improper break in before I got it that you were talking about . I ended up trading in for a 2018 Dodge Challenger . Thats how i found your channel from the Redeye. Best of luck with your Mustang

Question though - around 9:45 you’re talking about how in reality the GT350 would be Ford’s best track car (which I don’t dispute), but the one major difference between the GT350 and the GT500 being the Supercharger. Do you think a 350 w/ a Supercharger would take a 500 on a road course, or would it be about even?
@DrivewayDemons
@DrivewayDemons 4 жыл бұрын
Ryan I pro charged with a anti-gravity lightweight battery with equal power I feel it would. Pro charger is lighter than twin turbos and a roots/twin screw blower. Pro charger is about 60 lbs with everything and to help keep weight balance in check a 22lb savings with the battery would be a must. Also empty out the 10-15 lb washer reservoir would be 35+ lbs so the gt350 would be almost stock like balance. It’s a better balanced car for sure and is 400lbs+ lighter.
@rjhick1
@rjhick1 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe not a supercharger because it adds more weight but a 2020 GT30R with a Turbo will destroy the GT500 every time. The only thing the Carbon Fiber Track Pack GT500 has over the GT30R is power.

10:08 Why does this bother everyone so much? I would have to think if Ford wanted that closed, they would have designed it that way. I have to believe that aero exists for a reason and to serve a purpose however small it may be. Nothing stuffed into mine and honestly, it doesn't get all that much in the way of rocks etc. in there.

Two completely different cars in my opinion REDEYE and GT350. One is a muscle car and the other is a Pony. One is a Canyon carver and the other is a straight line rocket you can take to the grocery store with your kids. Nonetheless the Stang is beautiful it’s a GT500 “black key” sorta speak. I love your content you do a fine job providing information my friend. However, I feel like you are trying to justify the trade by hyping the Stang and down playing the REDEYE. I could be wrong, just my gut feeling. Like you I’ve driven both and owned everything under the sun, as a retired professional Basketball Player at 6’9” 290 pounds squeezing in a Mustang is difficult. On looks alone I’ll take your REDEYE. Again, I’m a fan of your content, keep it coming. #ProudSubscriber
