Simon is at Carlisle Ford Nationals this weekend, and picked up an exclusive reveal of a two new Shelby America cars! Spoiler alert: they're pretty, and pretty darn fast!

I freaking love it. 900hp/2600 lbs. That is like a 8.3 second 1/4 mile. All the haters must be chevy fan that are mad because COPO sucks. Or maybe they are dodge fans. You know the ones that paid $100k-$200k for a 9.4 1/4 mile not the 8.9 dodge said, and 149 top speed.

@@cannonfodder4812 The down side of production cars every few are worth anything. Production #1 and the last one. When a car is very limited edition they are worth money. I have a '17 Mustang GT 1xxxrwhp ($83k invested not counting labor) worth mid $40 to $50k '00 F150 Harley Davidson edition. $60k paint job, Air bags, 1600w stereo. Worth - $20/$25k

Whose idea was the gold roof? That's just wrong. Metalflake paint? Also wrong. Do they have shag carpet? What no supercharged Coyote 5.0 option? Carol just turned over.

😂 Thats it? It's basically the same kit as previous cars just with an engine upgrade and one version being an atrocious red with gold hard top. Disappointing reveal to be honest. I was expecting a totally new modern take on the classic but when the covers were pulled back I was immediately let down.

You know, it's funny how split people are on this reveal. I must admit, I wasn't familiar at all with the Dragon Snake (I was attending this show as a Mustang enthusiast, not necessarily familiar with other Shelby cars) but half our viewers are blown away by the power vs weight ratio and retro stylings, while the other half are "Meh, seen it before"! Got to say, as a relative n00b to Shelby cars, I thought it was pretty neat but not mind-blowing, hence deciding to film and share it!

Corral Shelby has said was to keep his original style going. So that's what they did. He would be very proud and the Gold roof he would be disappointed.

I’d rather have a twin turbo version than a supercharger version. No parasitic loss of power from driving the supercharger off the crank. A big turbo and smaller turbo so the lag is kept to a minimum.

You know, I kind of agree with you - it's funny these days seeing the nostalgia for the old turbocharged Fox Body Mustang when people are also so precious about supercharged muscle cars. Can't please everyone, I guess!!!

@@NerdSafari You see that’s what’s so cool about turbo chargers, your using spent energy in the form of spent fuel gasses to make more power increasing an engines efficiency and not taking power from the engine to create boost so there’s no load on the crank so it’s free energy your using to drive the turbo. The con is turbo lag but that can be stopped by fitting an anti lag device in the exhaust so I keeps the turbo at maximum boost at idle. Turbo technology has moved on a lot now.

Did Carrol Shelby have any sons that were into the family business??

Yes, he actually had two sons and a daughter from his first marriage, although those "children" are all in their 70s now. I don't believe the Shelby family has anything to do with the Shelby American corporation these days, but I could be wrong. They certainly still have a strong desire to run the business by the same principles that Carroll Shelby did originally, although they do get a lot of flak for some of their projects with Ford, such as their variant of the divisive Mach-E. Personally, I'd love a new Shelby Super Snake, but would also love it if I had the money for the $160,000 price tag! 😂

Aaron Shelby is Carrolls Grandson. A great guy and, at least a few years ago, he was a driving force behind Shelby American. You want to hear those of stories of Carroll from the first hand view. So yes, some of the Shelby family is still in it.

Oops, sorry for missing your comment for a month! No, this is Carlisle PA, about four hours west of New York where we live! They have fantastic Ford, Chevy and import car shows there every summer that we always make the trip to see!

True, it's a somewhat modern reincarnation of the Shelby Dragon Snake - pretty cool, but I understand why people don't feel like it's technically new! Then again, we also released a short video about the new Shelby Super Snake and that's definitely new, and people hated on that for completely different reasons! 🤣

I skipped ahead. "New" cars was a tremendous exaggeration, just more rework of what was a good car in the 1960's. Whatever sells in that obscure market is ok with me, but new thinking is not the deal here. Everyone knows Shelby was not allergic to making money, hence the" best Shelby is the next one" quote used. But that overlooks his statements about not wanting to change the light Cobra all around to make it a heavy big engined car.

Ha ha ha, that's fair. Honestly, we were hoping they'd start one of the cars up and maybe even take it for a spin like they did a year ago, that would have been fun! They did have the new Shelby Super Snake Mustangs at the show (we created a YT short on that) but people hate on those for completely different reasons!!!

You know, it's funny how polarizing this "unveiling" has been, with half the people being blown away by the performance specs and the other half being "Meh, seen it all before"! Then again, they also had the new Super Snake Mustang at the same event, and that split the room for very different reasons! I guess you can't please everyone!

@NerdSafari - I know Carroll turned out some wild rides, back in the day... buy it's hard to keep the legacy alive without his hand in it. I get that it's faster... but it just looks way too plastic-fantastic.... like one of the thousands of kit cars out there. I still say Carroll should've opened another brand for future developments, and specified only his own works to remain under his name.

Lol, did you realize that this video isn't from Shelby? The "camera operator" is me, stood behind a rope and unable to get any closer, while a very old man kept bumping into me and ruining the shot! They didn't have an official film crew or anything at the event, so I figured I'd do my best to be opportunistic and share this with the world! Definitely not perfect, but the best I could do with zero notice.
