My wife and I are owner operators and we lease our equipment to a nationwide RV Transport company. If that freight market in which you are currently running gets bad you might want to consider hauling new RVs. You will have to purchase a trailer. We get to pick and choose our loads, get to pick and choose when we load, we get to pick and choose how fast we drive, which roads to drive , where to fuel. We get to pick and choose when we unload. We currently run at 3 dollars a mile. The downside is we have to find our own back haul going back towards Elkhart Indiana. We haul automobiles back east just to cover our fuel expense. Yes you have to load and unload your trailer but that's easy work. Good luck on your endeavors.

A CDL trainer gave us a tip on backing a trailer. "Turn towards your trouble." If your trailer is going left (trouble) and you want to go straight or right, turn the steering wheel to the left. Obviously, the opposite for right heading trailer. I was amazed how many seasoned drivers appreciated that tip.

Glad to hear your still running your own truck plenty of time to see how the work goes and decide if you want another truck and driver. Have followed you since you started, i drove from 1979 - 1998 here in the UK then my boss asked me to swap to the office and plan the routes it was mainly fridge and curtain sider we ran 20 trucks plus another 80 across the UK. You don't realise how hard it can be until you have 40 drivers to keep control of people you have known for years and thought ok , suddenly became a problem you can't have friends when they make silly mistakes and cause damage etc .I worked in the office and returned back to driving in 2010 =2018 when heart problems made me retire at 61.

Handling people / staff is like herding cats. You have to adjust yourself on the fly for so many different personality types, and you try to be a people pleaser, but invariably, somebody gets pissed off or is a chronic complainer / troublemaker, and the best laid plans end up going to shit. You're trying to run a company and be the head of your own HR department at the same time, and it's quite an aggravating thing to juggle. Not everyone will get on board with your company's vision, and it's a pain in the ass to cut the dead weight, but it must be done if you want your company to survive. If running your own business were easy, everybody would be doing it. Best of luck to you as you forge ahead with Bright Mountain Inc., and I hope you find the right people to take the company to the next level.

I totally get it. I drove for Swift for about 2 years then I went into the office as a Driver Leader at Swift. I have had to hire and manage a bunch of drivers, and unfortunately fire a few. I get how rough it is to have to fire drivers. It is absolutely awful. I recently decided that I’d rather be on the road than in the office, and I’m getting ready to jump back in at Swift. Running a small fleet (or being part of a team that runs a large fleet) is not easy, and I’m amazed that you have done as well as you have. Keep it up!

I think giving drivers all the nice things they want is a good concept however I also think that's what made a lot of companies go under. You need someone with a little ice in their veins to make those hard choices and you do have a heart of gold for sure. No one should blame you for shooting for the stars. Having worked at different places for different people over the last 39 years, I’ve worked for good people and I’ve worked for bad people. In my experiences, it has been very apparent that being able to manage people effectively, is something you’re born with. You don’t learn it, it’s instinctive, you either have it or you don’t. Again, this is the knowledge I have attained, from examples in my life. The one thing that I noticed about all the good people I’ve worked for is, they make it look very easy. It doesn’t even look like they’re working.

Great to see you on YT again! I wish the Company would have worked out for you but at least you tried. The education will be invaluable if you try again when rates improve. As others have said you look more at ease than you have in quite a while. Great video! Be careful out there.

Hey at least you did what was right for u and you so nice and caring and it’s nice to see you enjoying making content and trucking. Love ur videos and happy to see that ur happy with where things are going right now. As I have been told but I don’t completely understand myself but you live and learn and really all that matters is you got back up and caring about ur self and others.

Sorry that it didn’t go well like you thought it would go but at least you have a job driving for Panther and it looks to me things are going well between you and them. Wishing you good luck and peace out.
