It did seem uncharacteristically of him, but then again, football is probably one of the exceptions he will tolerate, given how important it was to his family life and his father in particular. Without knowing it, Bernie's dad actually hit all the right notes with Sheldon to make him open up a little bit. Whether he'll admit it or not, football bring up cherished memories for Sheldon and, if his dad had still been alive at this time, he would've been around the same age as Bernie's dad, so it was like having a moment with a surrogate father, with neither of them having planned it, but both just rolling with it. If it had been any other sport, Sheldon would have most likely rebuffed him. A mixture of luck and taking advantage of the opportunity that presented itself.

This is what trips me up: George is being portrayed as a gun-slinging, drunkard. He wasn't like that in YS, like at all.
@KoramNRdz7 күн бұрын
@@Gumbier_ThanWell they pretty much established Sheldon would in these moments only share his opinions based on his own often unreliable perspective in moments like this. The narration often explains some of these inconsistencies. We are basically made to understand that Sheldon never truly dealt with George’s death and didn’t truly start to understand him until he too became a father.

Well remember that when one makes prequels there's going to be holes in how characters are portrayed and events happen you have to count on the vagueness and open endedness quite a bit I mean I'm pretty sure Sheldon had said his mom and him lived in a trailer on top of cinder blocks Plus as far as Sheldon's dad is concerned he's described and a drunk and cheated, I mean the drunk part is something can be worked with, but when one cheats I mean all morality and likeness are just gone and he dies early on too in Sheldon's life
@Xylarxcode6 жыл бұрын
They probably toned down the mean and borderline bully part of his father's character to make him seem more likable to the audience. In Young Sheldon, Mary and George still get along fairly decently, but in TBBT the way Sheldon describes their marriage makes it seem as if all they could do was argue and be bitter towards each other. Same with bullying. In TBBT Sheldon talks about the many bullies and their pranks he had to endure, but in Young Sheldon he is never seen being bullied. They probably didn't think it would go over well to see a group of 14-15 year olds pick on a 9 year old for being different. That's a bit muchh for a light hearted family friendly show like Young Sheldon. Same with his dad, really. They toned that stuff down to make it more appealing for their target audience.

Sheldon is so conflicted about his father's death that he created a fantasy father in his head who is everything his father was not that's why on the Big Bang theory Sheldon is always putting his dad down because the truth is, he cannot accept the fact his father died or the fact his father loved him so dearbecause he cannot express his emotions. It's easier for him to express emotions of anger than love. It's part of his syndrome.

I might have come to a pretty good answer as to why sheldon never had an interest in women like the rest of his friends. He lost both the men in his life at a very young age. His head is always in books because his grandpa was the one who got him into the sciences, and his father died right before sheldon hit his pre-teen's, never giving him the chance to even have a talk about girls. The only contact he has ever had with women is his mom who had to finish raising him on her own and his twin sister whom he didn't get along with.

0:42 - 0:50 *Meanwhile in production of the Young Sheldon finale…* Screenwriter: Okay, so for this episode we are going to have to shoot it when Iain Armitage is 14, because we keep saying that Sheldon’s dad passed away when he was 14, so y’know that’s super important. Producer: (looks at phone) Uh huh.. uh huh… hey, have you tried this new Fall Guys game yet? These cute little guys, they… they won’t stop falling. Screenwriter: Yeah… yeah, I can see that. Did you hear what I said though? Producer: Yeah yeah yeah yeah. I d- I definitely heard what you said for sure. Screenwriter: Great, thanks!

There is a huge difference about this George Cooper that Sheldon describes and the the actual George Cooper we see in Young Sheldon. He was such a good father and its a shame Sheldon remembers him this way.

It's strange how often Sheldon inadvertently charms people, considering his personality. Raj's date; Leonard's mother; Howard's father-in-law. Anyone else?

Hess only 11 in the show now, his dad cheats when Sheldon is 13. Probaly won’t happen until season 6.

This scene always hit me hard. Even more so after watching the whole run of Young Sheldon.
