I'm selftaught with guitar and when i started playing, there was no interwebs to search info and i was shredding away 15 yrs before even considering a metronome or bother to learn simple sub divisions when playing. So yeah, it's a mess in a way😂, but i always had music playing in my head and it has just started to connect to the fretboard, boy is it exciting to play guitar. But you dont play with your fingers, you play with knowledge. Thanks for sharing yours, really really helps connect the dots. I'ma learn me some triads when i get back to my guitar🫵👌

Great lesson, as always, thanks Tomo! I spent the last 3 years learning piano and read a lot of jazz harmony theory so my knowledge got quite good, relative to my jazz piano playing, which never got very good! Now I'm learning to play some guitar I'm so glad I learned a little of that theory. Connecting the chords in interesting ways, instead of vague, boring ones, seems to mean so much more to me on guitar. Maybe it's because of physically touching the strings myself and being able to see the movement (I'm a visual person). It's very timely for you to do this video, gives me plenty to practice over the weekend. 😃

Hi Tomo...long time since a chat. I think besides music shapes... understanding, without looking.... to feel with each played note or chord, in a breath, heartbeat.... in spirit. Music can touch the spirit, soul and emotion. Any player, to develop.... must feel. The only way that I know that a player without understanding feels music is for their teacher to guide them to reflection... all song is from reflection. In 45 years, I am still a student... not of learning notes, but of feeling and creating... to share for a good cause. I mentioned this before.... John Lee Hooker... disconnect for an hour, listen to Thats Where Its At.... shut your phone and TV OFF. In quiet... listen. Life changing... for more than just the music. Get back with me after listening. You will thank me. Happy playing - Mark
