She's my all time favorite actress. Her performances are so delicate and nuanced, there are very few actresses that can do what she does. But Robert Altman was the only major filmmaker that understood the idiosyncratic nature of her genius and the rarity of what she brought to the screen. And the 1970's was the only decade that could produce the kind of films that fully took advantage of her gifts.

The Shining messed her up Kubrick was a monster it 5 year to film it. On Dr Phil if you know what to listen for she was a victim of some evil bastards mentioning Thelma a Satanic Cult that many actors & musicians are have been part of.
@Nikohere5 жыл бұрын
@@utubehound69 i would agree too w it bein from the shining i read the trivia of that film..its fanatic though but a bit disturbing of how she was treated on & offset of the making of the shining offset she was treated differently & badly down to earth like everyone gave her a moody say response or moody feeling to her so then she would feel worthless & useless that way she would be good for her role for when she would be in character onset & thats how it seemed in the movie she was just sittin around all the time & jack workin alot & but i feel bad for her a young beautiful girl she was seein her in an interview like this nice lookin girl she was. But i also read that of so much cryin & wailin that was needed for her role when she would fight jack it really took affect in her which i do believe to be true & it made her do exhausted that she would need water everytime after scenes were done shootin. I guess some people thought the movie was so real though too..especially the bathroom scene butvgreat acting of shelley duvall in that scene but same time i feel bad for her especially what she's goin through of that mental illness..& just like that hollywood doesn't care no more they throw you away & bring on new young actors then toss & turn em & get new ones..

I've always loved Shelley Duvall's films. I SO hated to hear about her illness. Being human REALLY sucks sometimes. This is an excerpt on her from Wikipedia: The Shining filming: Director Kubrick intentionally isolated Duvall and argued with her often. Duvall was forced to perform the iconic and exhausting baseball bat scene 127 times. Afterwards, Duvall presented Kubrick with clumps of hair that had fallen out due to the extreme stress of filming. While Duvall was in London shooting The Shining, Altman asked her to play Olive Oyl in his big-screen adaptation of Popeye opposite Robin Williams, a role Roger Ebert believes she was born to play: "Shelley Duvall is like a precious piece of china with a tinkling personality. She looks and sounds like almost nobody else, and if it is true that she was born to play the character Olive Oyl (and does so in Altman's new musical Popeye), it is also true that she has possibly played more really different kinds of characters than almost any other young actress of the 1970s." I just love this about her. ❤

@@Astroghouls damn, bro. You wanna redo a stressful scene 127 times? How the hell did you read that and come out with simply "women weak"? What a brainlet take.

@@Astroghouls what "truth" did you even spout here? That women are weak? What was the point of you mentioning that? How was that relevant to the above comment? Kubrick wanted to play on the actors insecurities because it would reinforce her characters interactions with Jack. Her character made an ultimatum where either Jack quits drinking or she leaves with Danny. Kubrick intentionally wanted her to feel isolated and told people not to speak or sympathize with her unless needed.
