Such a beautiful song, happy and sad at the same time.

This Shelly Colvin trio does such a fine version of this song... modern but hearkens back to older times.

Awesome version of this classic song. I don't usually comment on KZfaq videos but I see a lot of folks are commenting on how good the band is. I believe that's Sadler Vaden ( of Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit) on guitar and Bryn Davies (needs no introduction) on bass. Not a huge surprise they are killing it! 🙂

Check out that little boy at 3:38. He's simply into the music and the pickin' and singin'. Amazing!

WHERE HAS THIS LITTLE GIRL BEEN HIDING AND THE LEAD GUITAR PLAYER IS EXCELLENT!!!!!!!
@drewcahn5917 Жыл бұрын
That's Sadler Vaden playing lead. Check his solo stuff out. His main gig is playing lead for Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.

Sounds like the tune of Matty Groves, maybe an American take on the old English ballad?
@rileyhillriegel70782 жыл бұрын
Yes pretty much, this song evolved from matty groves
@Jay-lr3me2 жыл бұрын
Yep, from early 1600s in England apparently
@stevepierce64672 жыл бұрын
@@Jay-lr3me Look up "Matty Groves" by the group Fairport Convention. A British kid I met while hitchhiking in France in 1971 turned me on to them, and it changed the whole direction of my musical life!

Who is that guy who's picking the old martin so awesome. Damn... does the guy even know how good he is.. can please somebody tell me who he is??
@rcjons4 жыл бұрын
Sadler Vaden. Played with Drivin' and Cryin'. Most recently plays in the 400 Unit with Jason Isbell.

"Shady Gro"?? There's a "v" in Grove, honey. Enunciation...
@hogara52489 жыл бұрын
Stephen Jones She actually says "Grove".
@stephenjones56569 жыл бұрын
+P. Baptiste My point is she doesn't enunciate the V clearly, sounds like Gro.

+Paul Dirac I stand by my original comment re enunciation, especially when its an important part of the song title & repeated elements of the lyrics of a classic song. Lazy singing. (btw, that comment was posted over a yr ago, I've move on to other things in my life.)
@vectar4 жыл бұрын
Nice performance, but would be better if she didn't change the pronouns. It's weird hearing boy in this song.
