As an Interracial and Intercaste person and man who is part English,Sri Lankan and Indian race wise and Sinhalese,Telugu,Malayali and Tamilian through my ancestries,I did know about the oldest coconut factory to be formed in our Sri Lanka and the strong agricultural sector is where the country economy is heading to after that disastrous economical and political setback,good friends!!!Hats off to the respective staffs and board of directors for rescuing the nation's agricultural industry through the coconut productions and I am fully hoping to see this see this industry to be saving the environment and respective people's lifestyles to be going back to normal,good friends!!!:-D

This is a good one. The speaker uses the term "humble" to describe coconut (e.g. "this humble tree"). It's not the tree that is "humble" but the people who makes a living out of coconut, in so many ways. 😊

Love your videos as always❤ just a small thing I noticed.. Sri Lankan parents say that coconut water is as healthy as king coconut water. It is collected to a cup, so it was never gone to waste in our household😂 they make sure we drink it every morning😅

You are doing an amazing thing akka. Thank you for giving your homeland a chance, and for being proud of its resources, culture and history. Its sad to see so many young people, especially here in the west, turning out to hate where they come from because the Sri Lankan community abroad doesn't do a great job at cultural exposure for the young generation. Thank you for also going out there, and listening to all the stories of our people and showing off our beautiful and diverse island, and the great potential its people and natural resources to offer. I like that you are always down to learn more than you already know, and are willing to share it with the world. Keep the Lankan content coming! You are doing your ancestors proud.

Outstanding documentary! We have a hard time getting hold of Sri Lankan products in Canada. There is a demand for coconuts and coconut based products in Canada. Based on the products in the market here, it appears this is fulfilled by other East and South Asian countries. Sri Lankan farmers and villagers in the frontline need the technological and logistics support to so they can reach markets like Canada. There are already few avenues that includes few Sri Lankan-Canadians who are working hard to build these networks. But compared to other Asian countries, I think Sri Lanka still have a long way to go in terms of reaching global markets for many of the products the country has to offer.

Good to see you again, talking about the coconut industry. Your introduction is not complete unless you introduce the trapeze artist of the coconut toddy industry, walking on the rope tied to several trees, using only experience & balance . He is indeed an athlete, watching him moving from a great height, taking potential risks , like tripping from the rope due to strong winds, not forgetting the strings from wasps who comes to drink toddy and bad weather to name a few.

There were one or two brand in the market in New Zealand for a little while. But I think the marketing and supply chain failed it. Keep up the good work.

I found your video by chance , and it is indeed , undoubtedly a vivacious , fabulous one which was so compelling that it caused me to repeat it for few times in a row.i have a sweet memory of coconut trees. It is that in my childhood ,i my father made a shed in our garden and thatched it using weaved coconut branches. To tell the truth, we as kids craved to stay inside it , while it was raining. Thank you so much. May your shadow never grow less.

As an ambassador for tourism, you have promoted how good Sri Lanka is . That’s great. Asela Perehara , bring in millions of $ 💰💰💵💵 revenue to Sri Lanka because of the domesticated elephants used in the parade. The ugly truth is so many wild elephants getting cruelly killed , I see this as biggest hypocrisy. Since you an ambassador and seem to come across an influential figure, should take your position to highlight the true nature of the condition of the wild elephants on an episode in KZfaq. I think it’s your moral duty to bring this to world/ people and gov attention to implement immediate attention. It’s a shame what’s happening to these elephants 🐘 Writing from Australia 🇦🇺 Don’t delete this comment…
@Sheneller
@Sheneller Жыл бұрын
Asela perehara does not bring in millions of dollars for the country. it might have many years ago but it no longer does. this is not a tourist spectacle rather a religous tradition. The Parading of elephants is cruel and something that does need to be stopped immediately. we have been raising awareness on this issue for years now on our social platforms. creating a full video on it would not neccassarily change anything atm, but simply put a massive target on our heads. As 2 individuals (Non-Bhuddhist) living in Sri Lanka and wanting to live in Sri Lanka for the considerable future. this is not a topic we can just speak out about and expect to live freely thereafter. as we have seen time and time again speaking out against the clergy, or any religous affairs in Sri Lanka is by far the easiest way to get exhiled. We are working on the best way to address this issue without making a Channel 4 debacle out of it. the government is well aware. the people are well aware. It is only a matter of time till this stops.

Thanks for your time in explaining how valuable the coconut tree is there is a sad story behind this special tree which touches the heart and soul of the poor, now a days every part of the coconut tree is used for industrial purposes, the mass production of each and every part of the coconut tree does helps the industry to boom, the practice of doing mass production for import , the price of a coconut has increased, it is hard to find good coconut oil anymore in Sri Lanka , it is replaced by corn oil, but there is plenty of coconut oil in fancy bottles at Costco for $34 for 2.48lbs. It is another business venture for well to do.
