Shopped her a lot especially when I was in college and first moved to Oklahoma City. It had all the stores I needed. I bought my first living room furniture at Jc Penneys. Was sad to see it close down for shopping but at least it's still being used and not just sitting empty.

My earliest memories are walking in this mall with my Grandfather in this mall in the early 70s. It was a great place to go in the 70's & 80's, especially at Christmas. Now it is filled with government offices, but at least it is being used for a good purpose.

I lived 2 blocks south of the mall from 73-78. Truly miss that time and place , TG&Y, Furrs , the big Sears in the early 70s was AMAZING!

My buddies and I made this place one of our main entertainment stops in the late 60's & early 70's. We lived closer to Penn Square Mall and made that our 2nd home for many years, but would venture out to Shepherd Mall for some variety. Mark McGuffee and I spent many a Saturday riding our bikes to SM so we could check out The TG&Y Family Center, the pet store, Jenkins music, Penney's, the coin store, the ice cream / food court, Orange Julius, the small TG&Y, Dillards & the movie theater where we saw "The Exorcist" in 1973. We were 15 and bought a ticket to "The Last Picture Show", I think, but slipped into the other side for the scare of our lives. That was before high tech terror and that movie scared the wheedle out of us. Mark still has emotional issues as a result (JK). I remember well that strange house / garage that sat elevated about 8 feet above the parking lot for many years, like a mysterious island. I almost cried when the mall began to decline and turn into a government office. What a shame, but, all good things must come to an end.

It was always special to drive from Moore to Shepard Mall and wait in a car line to enter the mall parking lot. Traffic was heavy on the weeks in 1968. I still have unique items that I bought my mother at the Faudre Gift Shop in the mall and with my first paycheck.

Grandparents lived north of this about a mile on 35th. Us kids strategically stopped by to say hello on a Saturday night. They were good with it. Mama gave us a $20 bill so we could see a movie at the Shepard Twin. We always enjoyed leaving out the fire exit to the car. Of course Gold Mine was my favorite place. We also will never forget Furrs. They really went overboard for Christmas. The sheriff deputies would be on horseback. As for its history, the whole property was a golf course with a swimming lake on the north end. The lake was the last to go when they filled it in for the apartments. The last time I went in there, it was so depressing to see how they had built in so much on the east wing. I wonder what ever happened to Tom, head of security. They hired him just after the famous kidnapping incident. I worked with him at American Security in the 80's. I landed at Northpark Mall. Tom said he believed we were the only armed mall guards in the USA.

Mainly remember the smell of popcorn coming from the TG&Y. It was the only indoor mall at the time, Penn Square had not been closed in yet.

I don't remember there being a Sanger-Harris at Shepherd. The anchors at that mall were JCPenneys, TG&Y (later McCrory's) and Dillards. Sanger-Harris was what later became Foley's, then Macy's.

I don't remember a Sanger-Harris there either. I remember when the Mall opened there was JC Penney's and Kerr's as the anchor stores. Kerr's later became Dillard, Brown & Dunkin, later shortened to just Dillard's. I think Sanger-Harris bought out John A. Brown's which later became Foley's then Macy's.(there was not a John A. Brown in Shepherd). I do remember there being a Sanger-Harris at Crossroads and I think Quail Springs.

I worked at Radio Shack at the mall, 1980/81. Back when you could get a raw egg in your Orange Julius, eat a good lunch at furr's for not a lot of money, and meet the love of your life at the Pretzel shop... ;-)

LMAO, wow I forgot all about this mall. As a kid in the 80s I had to get a ride to Penn Square but could walk to Shepard Mall in like 5 minutes. It was actually still a nice mall back then, pretty busy. Didn't they turn this into a bunch of government offices or something?

i lived just a coupled blocks away from my high school in the 80s which in turn was just a couple blocks away from Shepherds Mall, use to walk over there and hang out all the time. my girlfriend in hgih school lived right across the street from it, her front yard was probably no maore than 50 feet away from the start of the parking lot. there was like one house between her house and the mall then a small street and an embankment that dropped down probably about 5 feet to be ground level with the mall. so standing in her yard you would literally being looking over and down on the mall.

My first trip to Oklahoma City was in September 2018. I was working for a law firm the headquartered there. I recall a charter school, some government offices and may some healthcare providers. The place has definitely seen better days.

Add far as I know I never made it to this mall. I grew up in Enid, and heard about it all my life. Have been to Penn square several times, and went to crossroads a lot just out of high school from '77to '80. J C Penneys brings back memories. We had penney's in Enid bell jeans there. In fact between penney's and Coldirons that's where all my clothes came from.
