I definitely liked the 1994 version of shere kahn the most it shows him as not being a murderous hateful being or a tyrannical dictator but a law keeper/protector they state this in the film and show what happens when you do break this simple law. When he does attack its shown like a horror movie everyone is scrambling in terror and its clear he had plot armor when that gun jammed but damn did it make him scary and when he killed wilkins his roar alone caused absolute fear.

The 1994 version is exactly what i always wanted to see from him. So glad at least one iteration did it

As a child, I wondered how the best friends from the show Jungle Cubs could become worst enemies in adulthood, and how could Shere khan become such a villain? Now with age, I have no questions.

I mean like the cartoons will always beat the new re done movies but for me its the 2016 jungle book that beats all of the others in the 2016 jungle book Shere Khan is hell of a villian and has badass look to him

I have no idea why the western media always (on purpose & willfully) ignore the 1989 Anime adaptation of The Jungle Book. Sher khan in that 52 episode series is badass. That series is far much superior than any of Disney's adaptations. It teaches kids many mature topics as well like sacrifice, importance of culture, love for wildlife, how to deal with trauma, etc. Everyone MUST watch it. Fun fact: In my country, it was dubbed in hindi (my 1st language) and the voice of Sherkhan was dubbed by legendary actor Nana Patekar and his rendition of Sherkhan was badass.

Tigers🐅🐯 have been my favorites for years as an animal to be a wildcat, except for Shere Khan! What if a tiger like a Siberian, a Bengal, Tigger (Winnie the Pooh and friends), and Rajah (Disney Aladdin movie) all attack and fight off an angry, evil, mean tiger like Shere Khan (Disney's The Jungle Book) away and got him defeated immediately? That would super awesome and a very great idea too! All tigers are winners and all win to live, except Shere Khan. The tigers 100% wins, Shere Khan 0% loses!!!!

There was this other old jungle book cartoon were Shere Khan was Gigantic and Yellow. My favorite cartoon when I was a kid.

By the way: there was another Jungle Book anime series from 1989, which I personally still enjoy watching to this day. Sidekicks like the hyena Tabaki also appear there. In general, the anime is much closer to the original novel, which I really appreciate. Just wanted to mention this since this version of Shere Khan is missing as usual.

Given how badly tigers have suffered at humans' hands in real life, I always felt that even at his scariest and most hateful, Shere Khan's grudge against them was not entirely unjustified. I'd like to see a version of him that combines more familiar aspects from Kipling's original stories and the Disney versions with something like the 1994 film, with Shere Khan trying to hunt down Mowgli at first to eliminate an "inevitable" future threat, only to later realize that the boy has chosen to live in harmony with the animals of the jungle instead, and the story ending with them on more peaceful terms 🙂

2016 jungle book was okay not amazing or horrible but good and idris Elba nailed it as shere Khan. But 2018 legend of mowgli. That was atrocious and very hard to watch they took a kid's story and made it "Realistic" but they made it even less realistic if anything making the whole me, you, them all of humanity basically cruella deville killing a pup and stuffing him only out of cruelty like wtf man they know they basically insulted all of humanity right? And my god who the hell thought that was a good look for Shere Khan he look like 2016 shere Khan getting addicted to meth. The rest of the animals kinda look like on they were on meth to.

I think Mowgli’s Shere Khan is a phenomenal adaptation of the villainous tiger.

You'd think that eventually Disney would get something right in their movies. In "The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story", they used a spotted hyena. Spotted Hyenas don't live in India; however, the striped hyena does and should have been used instead.

In the summer of 2012, my buddy told me his pregnant tabby feline was about to deliver. When she did, I was told that if I didn't take the male, he'd be going to the pound. I took him in but needed a name worthy of the ginormous beast he was going to grow into. Shere Khan was the most powerful feline character I could think of that was relatively well known. So I named him that while he fit in the palm of my hand. 12 years later, he's over a meter long from nose to tail, and 10 kilos in mass. About 4 years ago he got so big I added Magnus to his name I've been with him ever since, serving my feline overlord to the best of my abilities as a material support primate. I remain devoted to my "Great Tiger King" until I die or he does. He has my permission to eat me if I go first. 🐅🐈👑✌️🖖

Honestly, I wouldnt mind seeing a version of Shere Khan where he IS a threat, but his motives are a bit more understandable. Like he could be viewed as a protector of the jungle, but he's very stern and territorial. They could tie in his injuries caused by humans as reasoning for his actions, but tone down his murderous habits towards Mowgli. He doesn't have to be a _good_ guy, but maybe depict him as wiser and strong, and fearfully respected by the jungle because of his power and desire to keep it safe from human beings. Idk, I just think it'd be cool to see such a notable figure shown in a more "admired" way, but while maintaining flaws and threat to Mowgli. Like Mowgli still cant befriend him, but Shere Khan isnt going to disrupt the balance of the other creatures all for some little boy unless Mowgli really proves threatening. But he still keeps his eye on him, threatens him now and then. He's prepared to kill any man, and has full confidence that if Mowgli grows into a problem, he can dispose of him on his own. So maybe for a time he studies him, and keeps him in his lane if Mowgli wanders into his territory or does something seemingly sus. He'd still want the chance to KILL Mowgli, but doesnt choose to waste his time hunting him down if he knows the other creatures are on Mowgli's side. Like honestly, if Mwogli goes to the man village, Khan could be HAPPY about that! He could be shown accepting of the fact that the man-cub in his jungle will finally be gone, and just respect that choice. He can be threatening, intimidating, feared... but his primary goal is to keep man out of the jungle. So if Mowgli ends up out of it, regardless of the method, it could suffice for Shere Khan. But if Mowgli comes back after the chance Shere Khan gives, THEN he can start hunting him down.
