Watched this video and Tried this only to realize I’ve been unintentionally doing this for the like the past 2 or 3 months since my hair grew out more since my last trim. The significance I can tell is it causes less breakage, you pull out way less hairs in your pick after your done, you don’t cause irritation to your hair roots when you’re done . If you’re hair is wet it can take 2-7 minutes. if it’s dry it can take 10-14 minutes. The length of time it takes also depends on how pat down your fro is and how long it’s been since you combed through it and the manner of how you sleep on it

Can u help me out bc it took me a full 8 hours doing this method and my hair is still tangled. I also was constantly wetting my hair and it wasn't helping. (I have thick 4c hair btw)

@@dondongaming9424 I use a small amount of detangling conditioner or hair lotion after wetting my hair . I massage it into my hair for atleast 1-2 minutes . I get a wide tooth comb and comb it out in sections (it’s important to make sure each section is properly combed through before moving onto the next) then sometimes I rub some oil into my hair before I slowly pick out the ends in sections followed picking from the roots like the guy does in this video. Takes me over 45 minutes . Would be faster if I was better at combing out and picking the back of my head.

This is exactly why I always grease my hair & brush it 1st. Even when I have a mini afro. I simply grease it, brush it, & let it grow. Fortunately my hair is naturally soft, I normally don't pick it til after I wash it or am about to get it braided.

Starting from the root is what the barbers do, sometimes I want to punch them in the face. But I found a life hack. Wash it 3-4 hours before so it just runs through.

It depends on the hair texture as well. I find it easier to start from the root. It loosens the curls which makes the pick glide through the rest of the hair.
