Hate to say this makes the original sound dry, but this is possibly the best performance I've ever seen of any song, ever. The fact that Bruce puts on the full South Jersey accent and does it with all the finger gestures to show EXACTLY who he's parodying makes it so much more fun. I think people who only listen to his albums take him too seriously, at face value. He's an incredible actor, and he takes on the role of the characters he writes in his songs when he sings them. This guy he created, driving his mother-in-law around and pining for girls melting on the beach ...he performs it to a Tee but with just so much joy in his eyes while he's singing it... it's f'in genius.

Great live performers can make their so-so songs sound good, their good songs sound great, and their great songs all but life-changing. Bruce qualifies.

He wanted to make this a party song; he compared it to "Double Shot of My Baby's Love". It's supposed to be sung by a bunch of people drunk on beer.

That was his best era. But he still can't sing and the band is predictable but decent. Too much sameness with the Clarence solos coming in at the same time each song. He tries a little too hard to get the crowd jacked.

He still let's loose and has fun with it...when he brings the lady on stage on Mother's Day and sings Save the Last Dance for Me,from just the stance and hand jesters as he's inviting her on stage to dance and while dancing, that playful smile,so damn sexy and when she kisses his hand and he tenderly tilts her head and kisses her lips...OMG He knows he's made her night and genuinely seems to enjoy doing it,what a lucky lady! And when he does that (rare ) version of "Fire," he's so sexy,just so much sex appeal just oozing out of him,and Human Touch video with vest/no shirt and then not even the shirt...enough to make ya instantly melt ,wild horses couldn't drag me away...YUMMY!

i don't know for sure if it is true, but I've read several places that he doesn't play the original Tele--the one from the iconic BTR cover--when he's on the road and such as the intensity and constant use can be damaging . I've read they have replicas that he has techs put the chips and and such on to make it look like the original tele
@CosminNeagu
@CosminNeagu 2 жыл бұрын
In 1975 that Tele was relatively clean on the cover of Born To Run. The shellac and the finish chipped because his playing style changed in more of an aggresive aproach to the rythm section.

This was my first ever concert at 16 years old. At first blush this song may seem to be focusing on the superficial, a girlfriend, her mother, and the daily hum drum of life. But with most Springsteen songs it tells a deeper story of love, coming of age, summertime, youthful exuberance, second chances and a future filled with many exciting unknowns.

Listen to his first album. 1973, it came out. Not a commercial success. But so, so good. Greetings From Ashbury Park. Or something like that. I have it on vinyl, but have not had a look at it for a looong time.

for those of us old enough to remember the four seasons hit 'sherry baby' who also came from new jersey when bruce did this song it tapped into that older memory and it became the high energy rocker with a contemporary story line... got to love the 3rd generation rockers like bruce who grew up listening first to elvis era then beatles them his turn....

With the E-Street Band he is innately a one man-power plant, electrifying a ”town” full of audience for hours. On this special performance of just an hour & half, he is riding the set like a high-voltage rollercoaster stuntdriver in speed, giving to the show what he’s got - meaning usually his most legendary everything. And in the end of the show, the ”town” is full of win-winners. ✌️😁

Just to cut in and say that I went to a book signing and Q&A with Steve Van Zandt yesterday and he was everything you would expect, bloody brilliant. Standing ovation when he walked in and again when he left...just a great, great day and, like these video clips, he filled the gap until Bruce and the band tour again....

@@kathleenomeara9704 Hi Kathleen, hope you enjoy the book. Haven't started it yet as I wanted to delay the moment! He did talk about how he wants to expand the school curriculum in the US, so that music and the arts play a greater role in other subjects, in particular the sciences. He made a lot of sense and said that Connecticut has really embraced the idea and he's hoping other states will join them. ps...Not entirely convinced that other reply is really from The Boss. Not sure he would have used so many emojis or strangled his grammar in that way..! Whaddya think..?

@@gm9075 Hi Yes! Many grammatical errors for a writer of his caliber to make! Governor Lamont has embraced the opportunity to use Stevie's curriculum model to enhance the progression of outdated teaching methods. A move forward to address the needs for students in the large, inner cities. Yeah! What also is wonderful is Stevie will take the time to zoom with the teachers to learn about the successful strides or areas of concern. And thank you for replying to me. 😊 Have a great day!

One of Bruce's great gifts is being able to transport a listener to the scene. Who doesn't feel the sweat and broiling heat in that 1970's city traffic? AC? Get outta here! Thank you, Bruce.

Really looking forward to this. I was at a book event for Steve Van Zandt's new book where he said that Bruce and the band made a conscious decision in the 90's that if they asked fans to love them back in the 60's and 70's they can't just walk away now that they've made it and so they reunited. They need to write books, release music, concert footage and tour as much as they can and keep repaying back to the fans at every moment they can. If that is the case you won't find me complaining!

I miss this Bruce 😭 he looked so happy back then just doing his thing with Clarence and the guys. As a Monmouth County native, his music formed the backdrop to my life growing up in Belmar during the 1970's. No one cared about his politics back then. Forever changes but my memories live on as his music always will.
