Shi has put himself in an unusual situation in that he completes against himself and the record books. His goal entering every contest should be the gold medal and the world records. Once he secures the gold in the snatch with the 160, why waste energy with the 164??? i would directly go to 169/170 while you are fresh. At this point, he's already warmed. After winning the contest with the 190, what is the point of the 194?? I would take 2 cracks at 199/200. Now, you have 4 attempts at the WR instead of 2. Maybe the Chinese coaches know something i don't. Please advise

The replies to my comments exactly illustrate my point: no one truly gives a crap about steroids because at the end of the day most casual fans we be ooed and awed for a short while and then move on...like going to a SF Giants game twenty years ago and watching barry bonds hit yet another home run ...these fans don’t care about the minor leaguer who’s not making it to the big league because he’s not big enough or the high schooler who becomes tempted into juicing because he sees others do it ...very very sad. AGAIN I want to see dirty athletes have the balls to just say it like it is ...enough of them do it then we can ALL STOP pretending...then people can make a choice and join the clean olympics or the dirty olympics...and I’m prepared to assure you that the clean athletes live a LOT longer than the dirty ones But yes I agree with all of you those lifts are impressive but again who cares! That’s why I greatly admire the top power lifters like Louie Simmons’ boys: they have the BALLS to tell you they’re juicing and they know that when they take them they are entering into a DIFFERENT arena But these men don’t compare themselves to clean power lifters because they have PRIDE and INTEGRITY

I hate being “that guy”...but it’s interesting to see the animation and giddiness from the commentators witnessing these amazing lifts..we’re a week removed from discussing steroids in sports on this channel and these few instances of boyish wonderment in these two’s part starkly remind us that in the end I don’t think anyone truly cares who’s taking steroids or not for the show must go on ...I’m actually not especially impressed by these lifts anymore because these Chinese lifters and many others cannot be fairly compared to the lifters I look up to and they should be judged by different standards...let there be a clean weightlifting Olympic Games ...can these other dirty athletes just have a dirty Olympic Games ? I wouldn’t mind having two ...I say that because sadly WE (the knowing fans) never get to see the clean athletes compete on TV because well...they’re in the B, C, D groups ....and these are not televised You see where I’m going with this?....

Where there’s testing, there’s cheating. All we can do is to improve the current system so we can have a cleaner environment. Also China got tested 600 times last year. The chances are that they are doping but I don’t think they are doing any amount more than other countries if they are.
