Shias are many types. The closer among them to Sunnis are the Zaydis of Yemen and Oman. According to Al-Azhar scholars, their fiqh is acceptable just as the 4 madhabs of Sunni. The second are the Twelver shias who are the majority in Iran. Their fiqh is attributed to Imam Ja'far Sadiq. But there are some extreme shias like Ismailis who think their current leader Agha khan is a divine person. They don't fast in Ramadan except on the 27th day etc. Alcohol is permitted for them. There are even worse kinds of Shias. For instance the Alawites of Syria (Bashar al Asad is an Alawi shiite) is an off-shoot of shiasim. The Yazidis, the Bahai, the Druze etc. were once Shia but became new religions. Shias are misguided in their belief, but some are worse than the other. Some are borderline acceptable. Allahu a'lam.

FAHIM TAJWAR : Subhanallah - you are misusing the saying of the Prophet SAW - he mentioned this about a man who rushed in his prayer, so that he did not do the Ruku, Sajdah properly and did not stand or sit properly - i.e. he stole from his prayer (which you will find many muslims do even today)! I am a Sunni and I find no problem with the Shia way of performing prayer - the sensible ones amongst them pray behind us and I will not hesitate to pray behind one of them who is knowledgeable. In a hadith Narrated by Imam Bukhari on the Authority of Anas bin Malik, Allah's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.' And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah." Narrated Maimun ibn Siyah that he asked Anas bin Malik, "O Abu Hamza! What makes the life and property of a person sacred?" He replied, "Whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah', faces our Qibla during the prayers, prays like us and eats our slaughtered animal, then he is a Muslim, and has got the same rights and obligations as other Muslims have." There is no difference in the major aspects of the Shia / Sunni (Hanafi / Maleki / Shafi / Hambli / Salafi) prayer - Standing, Glorifying Allah, Reading from Fatihah and the Quran, Bowing, Prostating, Sending salutation to the Prophet SAW and finishing with Salaam! Finally Allah says: “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.” [3:103] “Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muhammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allah ; then He will inform them about what they used to do.” [6:159] Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah ." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."[3:64]
