Shiba Inu reunited with her owner at Wags

THIS IS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO!! This Shiba Inu was brought in 22 days ago as a stray on the border of Westminster and Garden Grove. Her owner had no idea that WAGS even existed and had been going to the county shelter EVERY DAY to look for his buddy. He had fliers up everywhere and even was offering a reward! We had so many people come in and want to adopt this dog over the last 3 weeks, but he NEVER made a connection with ANYONE! He was constantly trying to escape from us and his entire purpose while he was here was to get back to his owner. All of us here were in agreement that he was "looking for someone" every time he was out of his kennel. Well last night, we found who he was looking for! BEST REDEMPTION MOMENT EVER!!

Could also be routine, my Luna knows the shifts of her favorite people and goes to the door a minute or two before they get here and she'll sit there with a little wiggle and get the bunnies and zoomies once they come inside.

It's actually awful for the dogs health. If an owner doesn't see his dog regularly, then the dog ends up in depression which can mean refusing to eat or just sit in solitude.

I'm not surprised the shiba didn't connect w/ anyone else. I have one myself, & they are extremely loyal. I even named mine after the famous Hachi, known as the most loyal dog. Except mine is a brat - but a v loyal brat.

Although this does tend to be the shiba personality, nothing is beyond initial adaptation or training :) my shiba is so friendly with strangers he'd let a thief in and befriend him. But then again dogs are like people and a lot simply have their own personality.

You should see my city's shelter...when a lost dog is taken in, they only have 3 days before they're put up for adoption to the public. And if the owner happens to discover their dog already up for adoption, they aren't given the chance to get it back, because the shelter sees them as an "unfit owner" for losing the dog in the first place. As if accidents never happen. An older lady lost her service dog of 6 years because they refused to give him back to her and he ended up getting sent away to another shelter a few states away. I love what most shelters do, but not ours. Should be illegal for them to take people's pets away like that...

Super sweet; perhaps you should increase your communication with the county shelter? It'd be horrible if someone's beloved dog was adopted from one shelter while the owner was constantly pestering the other one.

Daisy Trench it's definitely happens quite often all over the US. I mean in my county alone they had two accidental cases like that. One the adopting people were fine with giving the dog back but the other the people who adopted the dog refused to give it back to the original owners and like there were three way lawsuits going on between all three parties and etc. Usually depends on the hold time for strays. Some areas require a month other only one week before they can be released. It's sad and frustrating but hey, no system's perfect. It's good that this one worked out well! That guy seems so happy to have his pup back

Animals can experience trauma and it leaves it’s mark. Please be patient as they recover. I adopted from a shelter and It took a full year for normalcy. She really had it rougher than anyone knew. Heartbreaking.

This video touched my heart ❤️. Wags , my props to you and all you do. So much going on in our county and in our world , the term people act like animals , I wish some people would act like animals because it seems now that animals give unconditional love to all and they know how to behave more , show love more unlike some humans , they don’t know how to act. Shiba's are super dramatic and ridiculously attached to their owners. Mine used to cry whenever I had to leave to go to work and loses his mind if I go away and leave him in someone's care for a few days. Becomes my shadow when I get back and demands to be cradled like an infant. He's 12 and still acts this way😅

That’s how’s my husbands shiba reacts she’s 6 going on 7 but was originally my husbands mom dog so every time she visits she acts like we don’t exist lol 😐 but I know it’s cause they get really attached to their first owners. Now that I have a new baby puppy she’s been really needy for me now lately haha I have never seen this side of her.

@@junichijam5364 My heart goes out to you, I've been there. Losing the pure, unconditional love of such a faithful friend is a pain like no other. It's so very hard. Grief is the price we must pay for love. I take some small comfort from the fact I outlived my gorgeous girl, and suffer the hurt of our parting here on Earth, while she is happy and at peace somewhere just beyond my reach, I'm sure. I hope we'll be reunited some day, in some other time and place. One thing's for sure - she would find me in a thousand football stadiums packed full of people! I'm sure your dear friend will find you too, when the time is right. God bless. XXX

This reminds me when my mom was hospitalized for about a month and a half our dog a husky mix was so happy to see her when she came back the pup wouldn't stop licking my mom's face and kept wagging her tail. Dogs are loyal and kind creatures and must be protected at all cost and be given lots of snacks and pets.

As somebody who owns Shiba, I can tell you that this is exactly how they act after not seeing you for about like three or four months they are extremely well behaved smart they act like cats, and they are probably one of the best dog breeds to get if you can train them or get them trained by somebody who knows what they’re doing
