This time, I came to the Shikoku region, starting from Okayama and taking the JR to Matsuyama City in Kagawa Prefecture.
The first stop was Ritsurin Park, a three-star Michelin attraction with beautiful landscaping. Highly recommended is a boat ride on the lake.
The second stop was Kotohira-gu Shrine, famous for its long staircase leading to the shrine. Climbing to the main hall is not very tiring, and it's worth the challenge.
For dinner, I had delicious grilled chicken legs, known as "Bone-in Chicken."
The next day, I took an early morning train to Matsuyama, which took about 2.5 hours.
The first destination was Matsuyama Castle, one of the twelve remaining castles. Riding the cable car was a fun experience.
The second stop was Dogo Onsen, where I couldn't miss a soak in the hot springs. I tried Marusui's carved fish rice for lunch.
Lastly, I suddenly craved for Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, so I took a train to the Ishizaki Maritime Sightseeing Port, boarded a ship to Hiroshima, visited the Hiroshima Baseball Stadium, and finally had Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki at Hiroshima Station.
A journey through the Seto Inland Sea.
