Shiloh the Husky was our first Siberian Husky and one of the founding dogs of this channel. It will be 5 years ago this Wednesday , since Shiloh died. She was 11 years old when she passed away. We have a lot of new subscribers and we get asked quite often, what happened to Shiloh, and did Shiloh the Husky die? The sad answer is yes, she did. This video was made to answer those questions, and also for an upcoming playlist, I plan on doing, telling the story of each of our dogs. We decided to do Shiloh first, since she was the first. Shiloh crossed over the rainbow bridge on Jan 17, 2013. And we miss her every single day. I am so glad we made so many videos with her, and we were able to share how amazing of a dog she was with all of you, even if it was only for a short time.

I'm subscribed since 2010 so I knew Shiloh and loved her like my own. She was such a wee lady. I had to make the tough decision to put my 12 yr old husky to sleep in November 2016 due to cancer. I didn't take it well. I went to the vets by myself, I took him home and I buried him in the back yard. I had no support. No one around me cared or understood what it's like to love a dog so much. I have a son and I loved that dog as much as I do my son so to anyone who says its just a dog, they're clueless. It resulted in me slipping into a depression, my relationship broke down and I needed counselling. It broke me. The word was never used but I suffered a nervous breakdown. I decided to look back on your journey with Shiloh and while it didn't make me feel any better, it DID help because I look up to you guys. You've been a part of my KZfaq life for so long, I trust your advice, I trust your views. So thank you Jess and Jamie, you're videos make me happy, every single one, and I wish you many many years of happiness and success xxx A long and forever loyal subscriber x

There are a lot of things I love about Shiloh, but her eyes always amazes me. She always seemed to look on the world (and into the camera) with joy, she always looked so happy. I always felt like she was grateful for your love, and somehow knew that what you two gave her was something lucky and wonderful. It is very sad that she passed away early, but she has given you and us so much over the years, and it is something to treasure for sure ♥ (Sorry for my bad english)

I have a cat that I rescued when I was 15. She's 11 years old now and she has started to show her age in her movements and being disinclined to jump as much. I dread the day she becomes sick. Animals are such a blessing in our lives and it is remarkable the amount of love and joy they bring in for the short time they are here with us.

I am a relatively new subscriber (as of November 2016), I watched a bunch of older GTTSD videos to learn who Shiloh was. And watching your videos has helped me heal my broken heart from the loss of my own husky (Snowy Shoal). She had a very similar story, she had been a likely puppy mill dog that was mistreated & malnourished, and due to that she had kidney problems her whole life. Our veterinarian told us when she went for her first physical exam & wellness bloodwork that when we rescued her that she was in renal failure (kidney failure)... we were told she may only live 6 months to a year. My husband and I were emotionally crushed, and we radically changed her diet & water intake. We did all we could to help her & slowly her kidneys struggled to function normally... all of that said she lived with us for another amazing 8 years! But all good things come to an end, and my Snowy ended up with an inoperable brain tumor also... She began to get small seizures, and I had left my job to care for her. Snowy lived for another 8 months before she had a seizure that paralyzed her from the waist down. I remember that weekend like it was yesterday... I didn’t sleep or eat, I just tried to nurture my baby girl back to health, but there was nothing I or the veterinarians could do... My husband and I knew it was her time to go take that journey home over the rainbow bridge 🌈 November 6, 2016... Snowy Shoal lived to be 13 years old, and I am and always will be forever grateful for the time we had with her!! So, Thank You for making this sweet story/video of your girl, Shiloh!! ♥️ And Thank You for all the hard work & time you guys put into all of your videos, I also am forever grateful to God for the GTTSD channel for helping me through my pain and grief... Keep up the good work, Jessica & Jaimie 👍♥️🐾

Oh my goodness. I live in Arizona and my little girl that’s a dachshund was an over bred dog. My parents had bought her as a gift and later on has had so many issues with her back. We ran back and forth to the vets. My parents actually wanted to put her down. As a final attempt for my baby I bought some vetri-disk vitamins for her through amazon. She could walk again without dragging her hind quarters. I’ve had my baby, Penny, for 7 years. We have another dachshund, Pepper, who was given to me by a lady he’s 10 years old and I love him too. A couple years back on my trip to Mexico my brother got an overbred dog. Zues he’s a Malanois/Belgian dog. He got him from our uncle. My brother ended leaving for college and my father and I train and work with the dog (he’s separated from the dachshunds) 2-3 years ago when I visited Mexico again I found a kitten half dead on the street. So I took him to the vet and now he’s my other baby. Kirito, the cat, is such a sweet kitty. I live on a farm with chickens as well. I love animals and I see them as part of the family. Sorry if this is super long, I just wanted to share my animal story. Shiloh will always be in our hearts ❤️

Thank you for sharing this. I started watching your channel 3 years after Shiloh passed away. I've seen some videos with her in it. I wish puppy mills were all closed down but I guess the only way to limit that is for pet stores not to be able to sell puppies unless they come from the pound and they are only able to adopt them out like working with the SPCA or Humane Society. Shiloh had 11 great years with you and Jaime even though she was sick a lot she had the best home and lots of love.

Thank you Jen for all your work and for sharing your life with dogs, as well as making these videos. Having the snow dog vlogs playlists helped us when we got our malamute; she and I both enjoy your adventures. It’s so strange though: Shiloh is the only one of your dogs that she reacts to. Shelby singing= our Luna falls asleep, but Shilo playing and looking into the screen=she starts to speak.

Beautiful Shiloh. My husky is my world. The thought of losing him brings me physical pain. This brought hope that it is something you can survive. This also makes me want to cherish everyday I have with him. I’ll think about that next time he wants to go out at 4 in the morning and play in the snow.....love you guys!

This video is so awesome and sad at the same time! Do this type of profile for all your dogs. Even though I’ve seen very little of Shiloh, I feel like I’ve known her forever! Shiloh sorta has a little of each dog in her. A little bit of Shelby, a little of Oakley and a little bit of Nora in her. But you know what, Shiloh is in every single video you’ve made to date. She might be gone, but if you believe, and look carefully, you can see her spirit playing with the other dogs, messing with Memphis and Shelby and protecting Oakley. You did some camping videos where you showed the tow line, it had 4 leashes on it, Shiloh was right there using the 4th one. I’m sure by now you and Jamie may have gone through a box of tissues just reading our comments including this one, but I do think Shiloh is not dead, she’s just at God’s house playing with Sunshine.

Bless you! I'm only three minutes in, but I'm already about crying. Thank you for sharing about this beautiful soul! I didn't find you in time to meet Shiloh. Puppy mills are horrendous. Unfortunately, around my area, they are even more common than other areas. Although you must be careful anywhere. I have always been an overly cautious. Overly anxious person, so almost twenty years ago, when we had to put my pup, Peanut, a mini dachshund I'd had from the time I was four, to sleep after she went into heart failure, and started having seizures, I took it upon myself to research, to find somewhere we could find a pup to give us love that, not necessarily replaced her, as that would never happen, but helped heal our hearts. I found a breeder about ninety minutes away, and told my family, with the understanding that it made me anxious, as while they did have mini dachshunds, they also bred about ten other breeds. Back then, puppy mill red flags weren't as widely known, but deep down, I didn't like that! My parents have never been the type to over think anything, and we actually got Peanut from a puppy shop. Needless to say, this was back in 1985, and things were much different back then, and I even remember them having the whole litter outside, along with the momma, and I chose and named Peanut, because she was the smallest one, that tended to get run over by her litter mates. And her little body fit in my mom’s palm, and she looked like a peanut. I was four... Anyway, my parents immediately called the breeder, and we went down to pick a puppy within 24 hours. We went to their home, but weren't allowed anywhere other than their kitchen, while the husband went "outside" to get two pups to choose from. Why outside, in the middle of January, why outside, even if they are in a heated enclosure? I'd want pups near us, to get used to humans, but that's me, and my overly paranoid personality. Why do we get two pups to choose from? Are their more? Why can't we see where you are keeping them? Where are their momma? Is she here? I obviously wasn't the one buying, so my opinions weren't looked at as important, it was my parents, who were just in dreamland with the puppies... which don't get me wrong, I was too, but I didn't like the situation. I would have taken them all! My biggest dream from the age of four was to have a "Dalmatian plantation" after all. We brought Casey home... me naming her again (don't know why, but I always named our family pets!) after the old Golden Retriever in the old commercial, that had trouble coming up stairs... "Come on, Casey, you can do it.", and she was my baby from the moment we got her. However, a week later, the seizures started. Which let me tell you, after having a dog put to sleep after having started having seizure, a new pup following suit is traumatic, to say the least. She was epileptic her entire life, and there is nothing anyone would tell me to convince me that that wasn't a puppy mill, and that her seizures weren't a result of that. Now my parents have Max. Again, I have my concerns...I wasn't there... but I know their breeder doesn't like visitors, and they have multiple breeds. Not quite as many, but still, multiple. And my family is touchy when I bring up the subject. Not judging, just concerned, but they don’t like hearing it. Max will be four in May, and was just put on phenobarbital. Same epilepsy meds as Case. Which devastated me, as it wasn't an easy med for her! Mom was overly nice with food, yes, but that med made her pack on weight, until she was just like a seal pup. I see pics of her now, and I just want to cry, as she wasn't exactly mobile, with her roly poly body, and her short stubby legs, but that medication was horrible for her. Max doesn't have as many seizures as she did... He just had a major one, but before that, it had been a year. This one, we had to take him to the vet and leave him there for a few hours though, as he wouldn't come out of it. He is okay now! His usual neurotic, playful self. (he was stung by a bee as a pup, and now fears EVERYTHING!! Very neurotic, but lovable) Puppy mills are a hideous thing. Honestly, I wish there was an easy solution. Even I miss the days of going to a pet store, and seeing lots of puppies. I mean, my biggest bucket list goal in life is to lay down on the floor and have puppies cover me from head to foot. lol I'm weird. Until then, I have my rescue pup, an am bulldog, am staff terrier mix, who is the love of my life. Though allergic to life itself. He's allergic to grass! And scared of lightning bugs! lol I love him though. Dogs are everything. I told my friend the other day that she loves dogs, but I am a dog person. She asked what the difference was, I told her that I could not survive without a dog in my life. Yes, she would like her dog, but animals aren’t a necessity. In my opinion, in my life, I would never be happy without at least one dog sharing my bed with me. Snoring and all. And I apologize for the length. There is nothing you can make me ramble about more than my pups.I had my cat Tommy when I was a teenager too. I got him because I wanted a rabbit. My mom thought a cat would soften the blow of absolutely not to a rabbit. This is also the woman who as a surprise bought me a pair of newts that had to be fed live crickets. She said "You always say you love all animals!" I was like "I do...all cuddly animals... and they are great, but I don't want to touch them, and I definitely don't want to touch crickets!!" If it's furry, or even feathered, and friendly, I'm good. They became her newts! lol

Thank you for sharing her story again Jess. I know it's not easy for you to talk about her. It also helps for people to hear her story so that they will adopt and not shop for their pets in pet stores. We have to get these puppy mills shut down. I know more states are cracking down on pet stores.

Shiloh will always have a special place in our hearts ♥️ here’s the story of my dog Roxy, and hold on tight: it’s sorta a long one. So it all started when my mom met my step dad which wasn’t until I was about 7. At the time I didn’t live with my mom due to personal problems. But- my step dad had a dog. An adorable 9 yr old (at the time) Purebred Pitbull. And this isn’t your “stereotyped” pitbull- man was this dog the biggest mush I ever met 😂 she was protective in all the right ways and so gentle with babies. Especially when my lil bro Konner rolled on in our lives on September 2, 2014. I was 8 in third grade and my mom and dad weren’t even a smidgen worried about Roxy with the baby. When we brought him home while he sat in his rocking swing Roxy would lay there next to him almost as if protecting him! When we moved when I was 9 going into 4th grade Konner was 1 and had the skills of crawling. He would jump, push, lay, walk etc. all over Roxy and she never moved an inch. But here’s where the sad part comes, over time it became harder for her to control her urinating so my mom and dad took her to the vet and this is now about Summer 2016. The vets put her on some medication and all was fine for a month until- it hit bad. So every month I go visit my family and friends In Massachusetts in the summer due to the fact I used to live their like I said earlier. Well about a week before I left it: it got REALLY bad. She was not in control of her urinating. She layed in one spot all day shaking- occasional whimpers and could barely lift her head to drink some water or eat. Seeing this broke my heart in two. She would have her good days where she could walk and her bad days, where she could barely lift her head. The day for me to leave for Massachusetts was sad for me, but little did I know that would be the last day I saw her. Before we left I pet her and hugged her and kissed her and told her I loved her very much. When it was time to go was hard for me. As I was the last one to go out the door I looked back at her one last time and waved goodbye and oh God. The look of pain in her eyes was horrifying. I hated it but I loved her so much. Fast forward a month later I meet my mom and dad halfway between Florida (where I currently live) and Mass at Virginia Beach. We get in the car we start driving and I start to utter the words “hey mom if we ever do get another dog..” but then she says “honey do you know?” and then I said “no, what?!” She says the worst and LAST words I could have ever wanted to hear: “Honey Roxy went to Heaven” I started Bawling my eyes out. I wasn’t even making any sound I was crying so hard. Turns out they put her down (due to a brain tumor) while I was Mass. we lost our beloved Roxy on July 16th, 2016. After we had her cremated. She’s in a beautiful wooden box on my mom and dads top bed frame with a rose over her. I miss every day even though it’s been 2 years and I’m in middle school (6th grade) ❤️ rip Roxy and Shiloh we love and miss you every day 😭😘 (PS she was 12 when she passed away)
