IMPORTANT NOTE: The 6000 'gosa does not have a self closing bail!!! After disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling my reel along side this video I spun the handle and my bail didn't close. Figured I must have messed up the bail spring and/or trip arm assembly. Took it apart and reassembled the bail spring area 3 times and it still wouldn't self close. As it has been 4 months since my last fishing trip, I had completely forgotten the 6000 does not have a self closing bail. The "bail trip lever" does not actually "trip" the bail. The lever's purpose is to extended down onto the friction ring when the bail is open to keep the rotor from spinning while you are casting. p.s., your videos are my must-watch when servicing my reels. Very informative and well produced. Thanks!

Thanks for the love and sharing this detailed comment, brother! Sorry if I didn't point that out, of if I implied that it had an auto-flipping bail. P. S. - Hope you caught some nice fish the last time you were out there.

Could you perhaps explain how big the difference in fishing reel is between the 6000 and the 10000? or is it just the spool that has more line in it? Thank you for the very detailed tutorial!
@TSGReelService
@TSGReelService 6 ай бұрын
You're welcome and thanks for checking out the video. Difference between those two sizes? Not that big. It's just depends on what type of fishing you're doing or what your requirements are. The higher you go in size, the larger the fish (theoretically) you can catch. Hit the thumbs up and spread the word about the channel.

Great video and very helpful. I replaced my bearing on the bottom of the pinion gear then when reassembling found the rotor was really tight regardless of how tight I made the top nut, any suggestions on what may be causing this? Thank you very much
@TSGReelService
@TSGReelService 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video. I'm assuming you mean rotor nut.... help me understand.... 1) What specific reel (make, model and number) do you have? 2) Was the reel working properly before you touched it? 3) Why did you replace the lower pinion bearing? 4) Did you do a full service or just a repair? 5) Did you follow my video when you disassembled/reassembled the reel? 6) Does the rotor spin freely if you just place it on the pinion gear without the rotor nut? 7) Post a video on your channel of the issue (without the spool on) for a visual reference, and include the link here in your reply.

Thank you, it is a Shimano saragosa 5000sw and was sounding a little rough. I followed your video and found that the small bearing on the bottom of the pinion gear was rusted out. I got it off and placed a brand new one on there. The reel otherwise ran fine and was not tight when reeling. Upon putting back together, as soon as I place the nut on to of the rotor the handle gets noticeably harder to spin, so I assume that is where the issue lies. I back it off (not tight like you do) and it frees up the rotation a little but nothing like a new reel where you can spin the handle and the rotor keeps spinning. It now stops pretty quick. I feel like I put the reel back together correctly and without the rotor on, the internal reel mechanism runs smooth and quiet now. Any ideas?
@TSGReelService
@TSGReelService 5 ай бұрын
@@muhikydd5562 If it was fine before and not fine after, something is amiss in your reassembly. Check your trip arm, your friction ring. Try replacing the upper pinion bearing. If none of these help, follow my video closely and redo your entire pinion stack.

Hello sir !! After following this tutorial I believe I missed something.. the upper part of the reel os rubbing on the bottom part when reeling and the handle spins in reverse and in the natural reeling direction.. what is my mistake ? Do you have a clue ? Thank you for the video it’s great I just missed a part or something 😅
@TSGReelService
@TSGReelService 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and following along. Yes, if you are having these issues, you missed something, somewhere. Assuming the reel was working fine before you serviced it, I would focus on the pinion stack.... make sure everything there is in the correct orientation.... use the reassembly section of the pinion stack on my video as a reference guide. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I hate to hear that that bearing puller is not currently available. I work on my reels and that would be a handy tool to have at times. I'm impressed with how quickly you can take apart, clean, and reassemble a reel. I perform a full service on my own reels maybe once a year and more often only if needed. It certainly takes me longer to perform a service than it does you. I am also impressed that you are able to perform a full service without colorful language. I certainly haven't reached that level yet. Thanks again for your reply and your helpful videos.@@TSGReelService

@@dcbz6596Sorry for the delayed reply here..... your second comment was held for some reason, and I just noticed it. Yes, it is a handy tool.... becomes more important the more I use it. I'm starting to have anxiety about breaking it. 🙂 My favorite tool from the same guy is his bearing puller.... gotten me out of a few jams, but I definitely use the bearing puller more. Regarding the colorful language..... I'm not immune to voicing my "upsetedness" and frustrations, but it's rare. I'm more of the reacting in disbelief (of how bad something is - see the spool breakdown on my Fin-Nor Megalite video) kind of person. Some reels take longer than others, and I also edit the videos to make them more palatable. For me, a full service (rebuild) on a reel takes a minimum of 45 minutes, up to several hours, depending on reel and shape it's in. Stay tuned for more videos. If I find out the person starts making the tools again, I'll make a video or make a post, if he's okay with it.
