Get some additional, varying sizes Flathead and Phillips bits while you're at it.

If you prefer to use hex nut wrenches, I'd recommend angled/offset ones, like these:

This was exactly what I needed to see. Bail and trigger were binding and I started playing with it… now it’s working right and got some preventative maintenance done also!

Great video. My reel seized up after using it in salt water and the pinion gear was seized. Followed your instruction video, cleaned it up, oil and grease, now its as good as new. Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed video. I took apart my new Spirex because it was hanging up slightly. After lubing and during reassembly, the spring on the anti reverse was giving me trouble. Had no idea how it was originally and thanks to you video, I got it. Thx again.

Thank you for this comprehensive video of one of my favorite reels. I love the quickfire trigger for sight casting for reds. Because I use them in salt water I am constantly trying to keep my collection of Spirex's running in top shape. You had a couple of informative steps there on reassembly with information and I just winged it each time before and is perhaps a cause of some of my reels not performing as well as they could. I do understand that the Spirex is not a saltwater reel but it is the best model available with the quickfire one-handed casting feature that I love. Wish they made a higher-end reel with the quickfire but for now, I will just keep the few I have going for as long as I can.

You're welcome and thanks for watching! I know what you mean.... I'd use them for saltwater water too ...great for bonefish before fly fishing them became popular.... my brother would use folded foil gum wrappers over small weighted hooks to catch them on his lunch break, so having that quickfire trigger was a bonus. More vids to come!

I also use this same model for saltwater fishing, I catch huge jacks and snook on it and I never felt under powered. I use 15lb braid main line and 30lb leader

Is it possible to make this an instant anti reverse reel? When i had the spool off it was in infinite anti reverse. It looked like the white plastic ring could be removed but i was hesitant to try. Any thoughts on this? I would rather have instant anti reverse than the quick cast feature.

Thanks for checking out the video. The short answer is no, but if you could manufacture an a/r ratchet with more teeth, it would lessen the space between stops.

Followed every step, but for some reason when putting it back together the drive gear is hitting the screw that holds down the shaft. I don’t remember they’re being any spacers that might give it more clearance. Really stuck on this pls help
@TSGReelService
@TSGReelService 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. If everything else is correct, it can only hit the screw if it's not all the way in.... thus, you may have the wrong screw in there or didn't screw it in all the way. Other options.... the block isn't sitting on the oscillating gear post.... Take it to a repair shop if you are having trouble.

Ok I’ll double check, ordered new gears anyway bec the old ones were worn, might as well throw in a screw with it. Thanks for the help! Keep up the good content.

taking the bail completely apart is totally unnecessary, the majority of people that watch you do this then attempt it themselves will end up with a bag full of parts and shopping for a new reel

I completely disagree. This video is for anyone who may need help. Why waste time recording a separate video showing how to assemble the bail when it can be added to an already existing video

@@seymourwrasse3321 don't be rude. You can both have your opinion without you being insulting because he doesn't agree with you. I disagree with you too, but if your takeaway from the video was that I don't need to break down the line roller, then you missed the point of what my videos are about. It's to show you as much of the reel as possible, so one can TRULY have the opportunity to do a full service it if they want to. Here's where I disagree with your rationale about it being totally unnecessary... you may be able to get away with it in freshwater, but in saltwater, it'll likely get frozen. Yes, just oiling the line roller when you do a basic service on your reel helps, but if a person will have difficulty with taking it apart, and putting it back together after watching someone else do it, then what about pinion stack, or even the gears? Now, if you had said I should done a better job explaining it, I'd agree with you. Even bushing-based line rollers can get frozen. Have you ever felt how your reel performs with a frozen line roller? Do you understand how your reel will feel and how sporadic (and heavy) your drag will be? Let's be real.... just as there's some people who shouldn't be servicing their own car, there many who shouldn't be servicing their own reels.... and, I think, for the most part, they know who they are... and take it to a repair shop instead. I get that other channels you watch may feel the same way about not taking apart the line roller as you do, but I believe the opposite is an integral part of any full service, if it hasn't been done before... just like I believe removing and adding ample grease in the pinion stack well is important if it hasn't been done before. It doesn't mean you need to do it during a basic service (which I'll rarely ever do) and/or it's already been done before.

@@seymourwrasse3321 only a few times, when replacement parts are necessary because of saltwater corrosion. I personally appreciate the full breakdown because it has always helped me when I need it. I understand that yout might not need to see it but, others, like myself do.
