I'm just going to let everyone know: No, SMT 5 does NOT track enemy MP unlike previous games in the series. She can literally keep this shit up indefinitely.

Was thinking of trying this game out since I’d heard good things about the rerelease. But if this is how it’s gonna be, I’ll stick to Persona. I’m 200% not about to deal with this kind of shit.

@@TeryonTheHumanthis fight isn’t bad if you use debuffs and buffs. Reduce her defense to -2 and buff yourself to +2. Then once that’s set and done Omegatoki Critical her ass to oblivion.

@@TeryonTheHuman the battle is not bad. Most battles are more tactical in this games but once you get how to deal with them, is not difficult. As someone who grinded OG SMTV to an unhealthy extreme. Maria is not difficult. You just need to set the stage, abuse her weaknesses or outright ignore them by brute forcing them with resist pierced or guaranteed crits. Buff and debuff and there are even more moves that reduce enemy actions in Vengeance. So there are a lot of approaches. Here there only difference is that the underlevel/overlevel mechanic is reduced greatly. In the OG game you needed to be same level for a challenge and once you overlevel, enemies died so easily it wasn't even a joke. Same if you were under, the battles were just impossible because damage formula was extreme in OG. In Vengeance it was considerably reduced so the gap is not apparent. You can beat the game severely underleveled if you build your demons and MC well and know how the enemy reacts to what and in Vengeance being Overleveled is no longer a walk in the park. Do not let this video dissuade you from enjoying Vengeance, it is a really good game with lots of replay value as compared to OG SMTV it has way more QoL improvements that make it better. Sure some fights can be complicated but that's part of the fun! To learn how the AI of the enemies behave and take advantage of their limitations, errors and such

For me it's not even about the hit rate, it's about the chance of them messing up their turns when they do have an ailment, the amount of times I inflict Confuse, Charm and Mirage on them only for them to _never_ fail their actions and recover the next turn just made me sceptical about Luck builds outside of maybe Seal

This might sound crazy, but: What if Maria was reworked so she had 2 turn icons and had a unique healing skill instead of Diarahan? The skill could either be called something like Ave Maria, or Holy Benevolence; it would have the following effects: Targets 1 ally, 80 power + 25% HP restore (maybe more?), Patra, Makarakarn, Rakukaja x4. She would also be unique by way of being the only boss capable of using the Guard command, which she would do after healing. As a boss, Maria would have this unique healing skill instead of Diarahan, and its usage condition would be altered so as to respond to Weakness or Critical damage. She would heal for less, but she would be able to take advantage of her Impenetrable Purity trait (which negates Pierce effects when the user Guards *and* has Defense raised by 2 ranks). She would also have Floral Gust instead of Mazanbarion. As an ally, this healing skill would replace Diamrita. It would be expensive due to all the effects it gives, but it would give her better healing utility, a better reason to keep High Heal Pleroma when she has Mediarahan, and would make it easier to utilize her own (and/or Artemis', if you have her) Impenetrable Purity. I just felt like boss!Maria is still both underwhelming and unfair at the same time, while ally Maria disappointed me a bit by not having any unique skills like Inanna and Danu do. (Unless I'm underestimating the strength of Impenetrable Purity as a trait on the player's side).

charge and concentrate are only a 1.8x boost as opposed to the usual 2.5x which means youre better off just attacking twice

Dude what is anyone on your teams magic stats? Does Odin even have both elec pleroma and the high version? And why aren't you using Zeus with those skills? Seriously, specific elec type move that relies on Str that can be set up to be crit happy and do a metric butt ton of elec damage? Not saying the whole constant healing thing isn't annoying, and other people already suggested the status aliments, but like, why aren't you debuffing her, buffing yourself. And blasting her with each team member having ziobarion or narukami? Heck a decently high magic level should be using zio gems for non mp options if you can't get a zio skill on them.

Yea i ended up doing this fight in particular on my 4th playthrough. This would have been annoying to deal with on the 1st lmao. Though i probably would have went for Murakumo spam but switch out my larty members to gain 4 more turns of Murakumo spam (though i would debuff her first before i do that)

Just finished mine on hard mode, used debilitate 2 x + luster candy to start for 2 rounds and then key is to use Mephisto for confusion gem and it worked on the first try, really gotta be smart in dealing the status effect, Mephisto got the highest +9 for dealing status ailment. Damage was enough to finish her on the second round after she used Petra for herself. Otherwise i guess just use Mephisto for confusion gem continuously until you finish her off.

Optional, and only fought if you are Law aligned. It's not even really that hard, you just gotta be able to put out as much burst as possible. It's essentially a damage check for your party.

She's immune to sleep so you'd just be wasting two actions by just casting it. Omagatoki: Accursed Poison is more reliable if you want to inflict ailment on bosses. Plus it is also basically a free Debilitate, so even if she isn't afflicted with any ailment, at least the debilitate effect still hits.
