Who's excited for the recently announced Shin Megami Tensei V for Nintendo Switch? I sure am!
Wanted to make this vid a long time ago but it's better late than never).
You fight Masakado's Shadow Boss in the DLC called "For the Past... For the Future". The fight is challenging enough even if you have the right skills (assuming your character's stats aren't as overpowered as mine) but there is one particular curious detail about this boss:
...you almost can't beat him if you don't have certain DLC exclusive skills.
Let me explain. Masakado's Shadow drains all types of attacks, except for the Allmighty ones, which he has a very strong resistance to. And did I mention you only have 10 turns to beat him? ;)
There is one way to kill the boss if you're going to do it the way the game wants you to do - buy any other DLC that gives you access to a piercing ability/piercing damaging skills, which will allow you to actually deal decent damage to the boss.
My character's stats are as high as they can possibly be, because I did the Red Rider grinding. Needless to say it took a HELL of a LOT of time to max all the stats!
Anyway, once I did that I got an idea...What if I use only the main character to attack Masakado's Shadow (normal difficulty, I don't think it's possible to do on hard) and fight him WITHOUT any DLC skills? Thankfully the game has exactly ONE attacking skill that makes it possible. The skill's name is Desperate Hit, you can get it from Demonee-ho and it is the ONLY almighty physical attack skill in the entire game! The fight can be shorter than in my video, since the number of attacks of Desperate hit is random, but it can be done, as you can see in the video above.:) By the way, I didn't equip any DLC armor/weapons either.
What you need:
- The main character to have as high stats as possible!
- Your main character MUST have the skill "Desperate hit"
- Your main character should (not sure if must) have the skill "Charge" to increase the damage of "Desperate hit" the next turn after it is used.
- Your demons should have the skill "Luster Candy" to raise your stats
- Your demons should have the skill "Antichthon" to lower the boss' stats
- Your demons should have a healing skill, which in my case is "Salvation"
- You need to keep an eye on your MC's (MC = Main Character) mana.
- You need your demons alive to give your MC support
- Make sure that your demons resist gun and wind damage (and maybe physical damage too). If somebody in your team has reflect gun, that wouldn't hurt either.
- You need a certain amount of RNG luck. :)
That's pretty much it. When I wasn't recording, I beat him one turn faster, but like I said, it's quite RNG dependent. Oh, and of course I used the DLC that makes my character/demons level up quickly because doing that without the DLC is, again, possible but EXTREMELY time consuming.
