Not necessarily just defense but his health pool too! He's tricky and he has powerful moves too.

If you want masakado to join your team try to have room in the demon party, otherwise he won't join when you beat him

It's actually good to know that Masakado even joins you willingly at all, since I bet he'd be a pain in the ass to fuse.

Pro tip for everyone: DO NOT USE FIERCE ROAR or TAUNT. He will in fact spam Freikugel everytime. Even with Enduring Soul, that attack just shreds through demons. Just focus on buffing and debuff and have as less weaknesses on you and your demons as much as possible. Null, drain, repel, as much as you can fit on a demon. Maximize press turns. Nahobinos Magatshui skill succession is INCREDIBLY useful for this fight. Murakumo + Succession + Omagatoki Critical = 4 Murakumos (potentially more depending on how you use your press turns) with crits, thats a TON of damage on Masakado (EDIT: APPARENTLY This KINDA works if its on Nahobino and everything is mostly in VIT and Nahobino drains all of the 4 elemental attacks, + luminescent mirage ig. But im pretty sure its all on luck if he even uses one of these moves aside from just spamming Freikugel.

Just beat him last night and here’s a quick tip 9/10 times his Magatsuhi turns will follow a pattern Starting with Fire Dracostrike and then the next Magatsuhi turn will start with Ice Dracostrike then the next one Storm and so on. So you can set up with a dampener to take away some of his turns Note though he can break this pattern but he’ll mostly stick to this.

Hey, i just read the description and you said you need to do it in normal. So is he harder than Shiva? I need to know bcs right now i'am playing on hard and the enemy boss really made me humble

I'm curruently figuring out how to beat him in Hard difficulty and I'm sure He's much much harder than Shiva since Shiva couldn't easily one shot you and won't recovery 2000~14000HP in a single turn. So don't worry,just keep playing on Hard difficulty and finish the side quests while preparing for this fight,that's it

Sorry for late comment, yeah he's much harder than Shiva. I'd say both Masakados and Satan are even harder than Demifiend, I couldn't do either of them on hard.

Wait, there's a different Masakado boss fight as well, right? The true one? You should get three options when choosing to fight him.

I fought the normal one. If you don't pick up the Kiou sword in a Canon of Vengeance playthrough you don't get any options. If you do pick it up and choose that option then you fight a harder version of him.

Wait so is this exclusive to the Canon of Creation route? Because I'm at Metatron in CoV, but Arahabaki never showed up at the fairy village, there was never any other sidequest to defeat the four kings (only had access to three in any case, all of whom I beat), nothing. It seems like access to Chiyoda is necessary. Is this correct?

Yes exactly! But since you're on CoV you should pick up the Kiou Sword, it's in the northeastern-most part of Shinjuku. If you pick it up, then do Canon of Creation and fight Masakados it will unlock a new option to fight the powered-up version of Masakados, but you can also just fight the normal version of him too it gives you all the options.

How come he didn't spam Freikugel here? :0 He used it like 3 times, while for me (even with party members with almost full immunities and more as backup stock) he casts freikugel almost every turn and crit one-shots them repeatedly :/

I think he casts it more if you have complete immunities, do you have everything immune? Don't have complete immunities. I tried to make sure some of my demons had regular resistances (Resist) or no resistance and that helped reduce the frequency he casts it.

@@BAIGAMING I followed that same strategy; some nulls and some resists (including MC himself since he's tanky), so yeah maybe it's just luck :p

how am I supposed to fight him when im on Newgame+ and he keeps one shotting my demons with freikugel (hard mode)? all my demons are 99 but I don't have enough incences to increase their vitality and what so im at the mercy of when he decides to freikugel my demons dealing 900+ dmg with a crit even with all buffs up???

Honestly I had no clue either, I had to turn down the difficulty to Normal and you can see I still struggled so badly 😅 You need to grind incenses, there are some one-time incenses that you can keep getting on new game plus and there's also random search spots where you grind incenses, it's a big pain and I usually did it while watching movies on another screen. I kept doing more playthroughs too, so you can get more of the Aogami bench scenes with Nahobino and keep increasing his stats too. And I grinded for all the healing items too, it's tough. It's an Atlus superboss, they're some of the most unfair superbosses in games so after a certain point even I give up 😣

@@BAIGAMING i see i am starting to understand a bit better honestly I think i made my mistake by using those incenses relatively early instead of saving them for my late game demons as I think I can beat him with my current setup if they simply had more stats (particularly vitality)

Yes, but you need to get a particular item from Canon of Vengeance and carry it over to CoC in a NG+.

The Kiou Sword from CoV is only for fighting Masakado's stronger form. But you can still fight Masakado's normal form boss fight without it too.

Just want to get some clarification. How do you have demons that have higher level than your character?

Because he's playing the switch version. If you have save data from the original SMT V on switch, you can gain bonus items, and even choose up to 3 of your demons from the old game to join you in the new game.

I played on Switch, you can carry over demons from the original game. There's other ways too, if you get a fusion accident it can bypass the MC level.

Simple Masakado, you must find another sword in Canon of Vengeance, then take it to Canon of Creation on NG+

Yeah, just to let you know, there are 4. One from the vanilla DLC side quest, one for either Canons, one for Canon of Creation, and one for Canon of Vengeance.
