Onew telling Jjong that he did well at the end of the song gets me every time- in the live stages Onew doing that part really moves from profound sadness to fondness throughout the time they promoting it. I'm just so awed by the strength they had to promote when they knew the media and non fans were gonna try to profit off or exploit their very personal grief. I find this song while sad is also hopeful, it really feels like they recognize the sadness and grief but also want to move forward with each other and carrying him so that they can continue the story.

To understand "Our Page," as you discovered, you need to really pay attention to the lyrics. I feel like, out of all Kpop songs in existence, this is one of the most important songs to know what the lyrics are about. Every word of the song was wrote by the members and it is all about Jonghyun.The lyrics make reference to things that Jonghyun said to them in the letter he left them when he died. Every word is talking about their relationship as a group and their relationship with Jonghyun.The song and lyrics are a tribute to him and the more than 10 years the members spent together as a group. As the lyrics say, "We'll stick together through thick and thin, When I look back on the road we've travelled, The five of us holding hands and shedding tears together, The memories are so clear, I never want to forget it. And can never forget it ...", etc. As you can see, if you know their backstory, than it should be fairly easy to understand that they are talking about Jonghyun and everything they have been through in the past 10 years. As the chorus says, "The beautiful words you've left behind (referring to the letters Jonghyun wrote to them before he died), Are like a poem and have become a song. (Jonghyun's words and thoughts have become lyrics to this song, as well as dozens of other songs he wrote throughout his lifetime, etc.) We raise our voices high, Knowing that it'll reach up to where you are (Their voices will reach Jonghyun in Heaven) When the stars fade, will it all be forgotten? (They are saying, they will never let their star fade so that Jonghyun will never be forgotten, and they will keep on living to keep his memory alive, etc.), You were so special to me, so I hold you close (Talking directly to Jonghyun),This page in the novel has yet to end (The song is called "Our Page", so they are talking about telling their story and creating the pages of their novel that has yet to end because they are still writing it every day.) I want to stay together until the end (Taemin has always said that he never wants SHINee to break up and that he wants them to still be together even after they are married with children and are in their 50s, 60s, 70s)," etc. In the story in "Our Page" the members are just trying to go about their everyday lives in a world that no longer makes sense to them. It is showing them grieving Jonghyun's death. This song is very powerful and full of meaning. The message each of them sings about is very personal to them -- they each wrote their own lines -- and it's about their journey as a group and how much impact Jonghyun had in their life. And, as the members have said, it's about all the things they wish they could have told Jonghyun, etc. "Our Page" is epic because it should be epic. It was the song that made Shawols feel like it was finally OK to start to get back to a little bit of normal again. It was a moment of collective catharsis for everyone within the fandom and it showed us that the members were finally ready to get back to what they loved and they were more dedicated then ever to continue on as a group. I feel like people miss so much of the meaning and story in the MV if you don't know what the lyrics are about. Yes, in the MV, in the beginning you see each of the members struggling just to carry on with everyday life. But because they have no other choice, they all decide that the only way to honor Jonghyun's memory is to continue on. So you see Onew get back to composing songs (Jonghyun was the songwriter of the group so, this scene also is supposed to invoke memories of him as well), Taemin goes back to the gym (Jonghyun also spent a lot of time in the gym, so this was also Taemin's way of connecting with Jonghyun.) Minho is one of the top actors in Korea and when Jonghyun died he was on set filming for a drama, so we see Minho trying to get back to his normal routine and back to filming. And Key is one of the members, besides Taemin, who is known for his dancing, so you see him getting back to the dance studio and practicing the choreography for his solo debut album. Fun fact: We didn't know that what we saw in this MV was a secret reveal of Key's choreography for his debut solo releases, but since then, now that Key's album and MVs have come out, we realize that this was the choreography for one of his solo songs. The background beat of the song is supposed to represent the heartbeat of the group, the heartbeat of the fans, everything that kept the members moving forward and what brings them together as a group, etc. Every part of this song was done very purposefully and deliberately. As you know, the green/aqua blue light you see all around them is SHINee's fan color, and it represents how Jonghyun is always all around them and how he is calling them back to the stage. The light washes over the members representing how the fans' love, support and solidarity within the fandom gives the members the strength to carry on and to continue as a group. At one point you see each of the members standing still in a room while the world around them continues on. This represents how their world came to a standstill when Jonghyun died and how for a while it felt like their world stopped while everyone else continued living their lives. As they climb the stairs to the stage you see the lights come on one by one, I like to think that was each of the fans sending their support to encourage them to keep moving forward. And then once on stage you see the members all standing on stage with the one empty mic stand in the center that represents Jonghyun. Fun fact No. 2: Just like SHINee's "1 Of 1" MV was 5:25 long because it was supposed to represent how SHINee debuted 5/25/08, "Our Page" was 5:10 long because it was a reference to the fact that SHINee will forever be a group of 5 and this album is celebrating their 10th anniversary. So, this album, The Story of Light, is all about Jonghyun and every song has something to do with what they went through in the 6 months leading up to this album release, etc. "Good Evening" is about SHINee's grieving process and the way the public sees them. "I want you" Is about learning to find happiness again and how they are personally dealing with everything that happened and "Our Page" is the members telling their story and what they want the world to know about them as a group and what they will remember and miss the most about Jonghyun, etc. And "Countless" is showing how SHINee has now come out on the other side and is now ready to start to move on.

I became Shawol back in 2009, so those guys have been part of my life for a long time now. I have so many memories about Shinee. I grew up watching them growing up too. We all miss Jjong so much. But Shinee members were so strong and brave to keep going. As a Shawol i feel so proud of each member. Thank you so much for your reaction.

For so many reasons this song is special. They kind of got to take back their grief. Their story had turned into tragedy "porn" for the media and non-fans and they got to say enough is enough, we miss our friend and brother but we are still moving forward.

since those two songs weren't recorded or filmed with all five members i don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that they rewrote some lyrics or changed parts of the plan for the mv, but everyone having different perspectives on it is what art's all about so i don't mind if people disagree. i'm paraphrasing from my memory but earlier this year on the show "i live alone" key talked about how the media was extremely invasive and just wanted to profit off their tears so the boys were very careful about what they said. so i believe what they say the mvs are about but during that time it was still so recent that i think the parts we see as referencing jonghyun are something that's there as a comfort for the people who would see them but not for the media or public consumption.

It is a beautiful song but not one I can listen to often. It's a difficult time right now for Shawols as Jonghyun passed this month on the 18th. Not in the lyric video but you hear them saying "You did well" this is something he asked in the past if he did well. I got into Shinee in 2016 andthe impact was so big it was like kpop stopped for awhile. And watching one of my fav KZfaqrs at the time who are diehard shawols talk about it really hit and I cried right along with them.

There are very few youtubers I would trust to watch a reaction of Our Page, thank you for being so mindful about it. It's difficult... most people turn to kpop as a fun escape. I agree with you, the military service was really indeed a good break for them and much needed at the time because they've been working so much since their teenage years, I don't blame them if they get exhausted they're humans too. Unfortunately for Taemin he had to continue woking while his hyungs were in the military, I see through his Taemlogs that he missed them so much because it was the first time that they have been separated for that long and now it's his turn to have that break, I hope he is doing well and comeback stronger (physically and mentally). When you get to it the from now on concert was the hardest to watch for me. Two months after jonghyuns passing the boys had a concert from now on 2018. Four boys, five microphones tears and struggles. At first I couldn't watch it. But I realized they were having a harder time then me and they went up on stage and showed all there pain. Because of the shawols they were able to get thru this concert. So now I can watch it with loving support for our boys. Now I still cry when I watch it but I feel like I'm doing this to give them strength and love. Thank you so much for doing the same.

As a fan since the beginning, I think you might not want the whooole journey. There's pros and cons to being a fan for so long. I obviously have so many memories with SHINee... I've loved my years with them as well. All my family knows SHINee, my boyfriend supports my love for them as well. It's honestly a great thing. I've even traveled to go see them in Asia previously. Cons lie in that... realistically... it means you kept up with a band for 13 years lol. Some years without much content or really crappy subs. Learning Korean at times to understand what's going on because lbr, kpop was not half as popular as it is now, so subtitles were a luxury. It's not easy to remain interested in something for so many years in my experience. And the sadness I couldn't cope with when Jonghyun passed. I even cried my balls out last year when I was listening to the orchestra version of End of the day. I remember him with great happiness but also it took me about 2 years to be able to do that, and to become fully invested again in SHINee. I've never had a shadow of a doubt that I'll be their fan until the groups disbands, but that doesn't mean I could remain connected through those years. In the end, I'm grateful for my journey with SHINee, their songs are a part of my life and memories... but it's also a long journey haha. Depends on your level of involvement and "commitment" I guess. Sounds weird to talk about commitment because I keep up because I love them, but in a way, yeah, I am committed.

This song means so so much to SHINee and Shawols. I was a huge SHINee fan since 2009, they were the group that got me into kpop and my ult was Jjong. So his passing rly hit hard to the point whete i had to avoid kpop for a couple of years, I couldn’t even listen to a SHINee song without crying (including RDD lmao). Our Page was healing, in a way. So proud of how far they have come and so proud to still be a hardcore shawol!!

It's not in the lyric video but there's a part towards the end when Minho (I think it was him) said "sugohaesseo" (7:04, 15:35). This translates to "You did well" - a direct message to Jonghyun since that's one of the things Jonghyun wanted people to tell him. How I interpret this mv is at the start they are just going thru the motions living their daily lives, and then how they are able to go back again as SHINee after seeing that pearl aqua lights, like it's calling them and they performing like Jonghyun is still there with them given the 5th mic. It may be difficult for some people but I hope you can check out their From Now On concert. That's the performance they did 2 months after Jjong's passing. It's really beatiful seeing them so strong and so loving of each other. It was really a tribute for Jonghyun.

Thanks for your reaction. Our Page really is so beautiful. It's okay to have the feelings you had when you saw their debut date. The SHINee magic where once you become a Shawol, there is no going back is real. Even though they're celebrities and a majority of us have never met them, we do get attached to them and I think that attachment and appreciation goes to show how truly wonderful they are. They impact our lives so much through their music and other activities that once you realize Jonghyun is gone and we won't get anymore content from him, it really hits hard. The beauty of the internet nowadays is that we have access to his music and MVs and all the other random videos of them and can continue to honor Jonghyun and keep his memory alive. I feel grateful and lucky that he left us with a lot of content showcasing his talent and personality. The lyric video didn't subtitle it but towards the end when they're doing the ooooooh part, Jinki says "you did well" in Korean in reference to Jonghyun's goodbye letter that basically ended with him telling us to say he did well and not blame him for what happened. The MV itself was nice and I interpret it to basically be the progression of the 4 of them trying to continue with their lives. At first looking solemn as if they don't want to do what they're doing and then slowly getting up and starting their tasks. Then towards the end with the time-lapses, it's like showing that time continues as they live on. I love the use of the empty mic stand, center position which was Jonghyun's position at least for their Korean things. I also love the use of the Pearl Aqua lights at first shining on the members as if SHINee is their hope and then the lights guide their way. If you're up for it, you could watch their live stages for it (I don't think the copyright will let you react to it) because SHINee live vocals always slays and it shows their passion and emotions. I totally agree that the different perspectives are part of what makes music and other forms of art really fun. :) I love the lyrics of Our Page in that they recognize the sadness, but they are also defiantly strong. The whole idea of it is that the story isn't over yet and we keep going. It's full of both grief and determination at the same time. I also like the way that they start the MV separately in the dark, and then as they are wandering alone, the pearl aqua shines on each of them and leads them back to the stage where the 5 of them are together again. I also agree that the military break was probably good for them as it gave them some time out of the public eye for a bit. I've been a bit worried about Taemin feeling lonely because he was obviously not ready to go so soon after reuniting with everyone but I really hope it's been giving him a good break as well and that he's made some good friends now that it's been a few months. We'll be sure to be ready to cheer loudly for him in a year when he gets back!

And yes, this song was written by the boys of 5hinee and it is also true that some songs had already been recorded with Jong and because of what happened they had to be re-recorded, also that many songs were chosen before and obviously the recording of the mv was made to convey the message that they said. Personally Our page was the song I needed to start remembering Jong without crying, I think this beautiful song helped me and I hope many Shawols go from denial and pain to acceptance. I think these story of the light mv were a support for my grieving process, which I was able to see and hear for the first time in 2019

I hve watched all their stage performances in Japan mostly and in Korea. Many of MVs from 2008 other videos related to them at that time. This group inspired me a lot during those difficult times. I am grateful to them as they made my life beautiful n fruitful by just looking and watching them having a great time together whether in MVs.. variety shows... Vlive... instagram .. etc.

I love the performance of Our Page from The Shining (a special concert/fan party they did in Korea with a live band). when i tell you this song both helped us heal and also was emotionally so heavy for us because it was a direct letter to him and it was so beautiful and hopeful yet it was so honest and it was the first time they directly addressed it officially, not in a concert or a social media post.. and to give you more perspective on it, the two eps with dance songs as title tracks (good evening-i want you) that they released before this were hard to endure for many of us because there was an elephant in the room and sm wanted to present it as a normal cb. not that we wanted to see them so vulnerable like the concert in japan but it was still so raw yet we had to vote and stream like an ordinary cb? it was more painful than enjoyable tbh but after members said they thought they had to do it in order to not fall apart i really respect that and can agree with that. those times were so hard though every day was a new challenge without jonghyun. i think what helped everyone heal a great deal was the military hiatus. that got the members and us all time to process it.

I think we all feel the songs differently and interpret them differently. Even from what Shinee says. A song can have more than one or two meanings and the imagery in the videos could be the same. I connect to the songs how I connect to them, and give them meaning that my heart gives them (and I really don’t trust SM, known for mistreating their artists, overworking them, ignoring online attacks against them, etc, to not write a script completely unrelated to Jonghyun for Shinee to put out there concerning the songs. I trust the guys, but SM is the literal devil of the kpop entertainment world so I have zero faith in their ability or willingness to help the guys grieve.). So I think we should all take from them what we ourselves do.

I really recommend that you watch/react to "WHO IS SHINee? A Member Introduction To The Princes Of KPOP (2021) by Michelle Hawk" It is a really updated guide that provides a lot more information on the members that you didn't really get in the last guide that was made in 2018. It is beautifully made and I think you would like it a lot!!

I was fine the whole 17th but now it's 2 min past midnight...is this reaction really what I'm watching? I guess it is. I always respected SHINee as a good quality group with fun title tracks (Everybody and View being my faves), and then Taemin stole me with Move. I was a baby Shawol for less than half a year before it happened. Still stings to watch this MV, I don't think I'll ever not tear up for it. Jonghyun did well, and I miss him.
