I served from 88 to 92 in Desert Storm in the Marines. My son joined and is now a Marine and if we went to war I would not think twice about joining the fight if asked. My proudest days were serving this Country. I want to take a second and appreciate and thank the men and women that served in Vietnam. The disrespect from some is unforgivable. Thank you for your service. Semper Fi

Amen to your message. The Vietnam soldiers were disgraceful treated badlu.by a.wricans when they came back from a war tgat .our were drafted into fighting in. I always take time to thank them when my path crossed with a Vietnam veteran who is proudly wearing their Vietnam patch hats. My mom's first cousin Dickle Bennett who served several touts in Vietnam in the army. My dad served as a military police from 1960's till 1964 when he got out.. His duty was being stationed in Germany at army headquarters prison facilities. My son Daniel Denton is class of 2010 Annapolis naval academy. He is currently a SWO LT Commander.

I dedicated this song for my late fiancé who passed way in the early hours on October 9 2015. He suffer from PTSD and TBI for he was a combat veteran. He was a Sergent in the army. He was in Iraq 2004-2005. He was a top gunner on the tanks. That man has been through war. I lost him to suicide. He was having a bad week and what put it all to an end was a piece of shit at a bar that we were at belittling him and calling my fiance a lier of his service. I was with him that night he passed, trying to save him. We are both a Patriot Guard Rider and please, please do not ignore a veteran. They need our love, our support, our patients and to understand as best we can. Chris, my fiance opened up to me so much about his time in war that I am working on turning it to a book so those who don't understand what our men and women go through can see what they go through when they are overseas. I miss my baby so much and I knew Chris will stay let me know he has not fully left me.

Hey Tina I know you dont know me but I felt I needed to say this. Unfortunately there are some real idiots out there that will never understand what wars do to men and women that fight them or what affect it has on the their family back home but know this your fiancee may not have died on the battlefield but he's still a fallen soilder and a hero of the best kind in my eyes and I thank him for his services and you for not giving up on him. My heart goes out to you and his nightmares are now at ease and he is in a better place now so he is able to rest in peace and you and him will be together again someday

The phrase "Praise the lord and pass the ammo" came from the chaplain onboard the USS New Orleans during WW2 during a fire fight. They had the whole crew passing ammo to the guns to constantly rain down fire upon the enemy. The chaplain joined in and started praying out loud and singing this and the whole crew joined in along with him. Hearing this made me proud to have served on the current USS New Orleans up until 2 years ago and still serving in the Navy to this day Edit: this story came from the attack on Pearl Harbor onboard CA-32, the first New Orleans-class cruiser

As a Canadian I feel very fortunate that our armed forces are what they are.. But the American Military is an awesome machine also filled with heroes, each and every member like Canada's military. It gives me a sense of safety knowing my military is well trained and strong and that our neighbours to the South have what I believe the most efficient fighting force on the planet. The whole damn world should realize that if the military was allowed to fight their battles like their enemies do (without rules of engagement) that fight would be over extremely promptly and we'd be the victors..... We ask our military to maintain and die for our freedom but we tie one hand behind their back while doing so. Let our men and women go out and do the job they are trained to do and let them do it efficiently. How the hell can politicans ask them to do our bidding in enemy territory yet dictate how they do it from home; safe and sound and with virtually no experience in life and death situations.

The lawns of my safe and comfortable suburban community are littered with “war is NEVER the answer” signs. Choosing to serve your country in the armed forces has fallen out of fashion, and is looked down upon by many of the Americas who live under the very blanket of freedom our hero-class of warriors provide. Unless you are willing to pick up a rifle and stand a watch, you don’t really deserve an opinion on the morality of war. ”Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” If you are a recipient of that love, and all Americans are, then you must support our hero-warriors. Don’t let “patriotism” become a bad word and never stop flying the American flag with pride. And never, ever forget that no one prays for peace more than the soldier who knows and pays the true cost of war. Disclaimer: I didn’t serve, so I’ll end by just saying “Thank You.”

11 year USAF vet and proud to have served my country. Great job on this song guys, please keep them coming. Many of my friends did not come home from Viet Nam, their names on a plaque in the town square keeps them alive. Some who came home were so mentally torn, they did not survive. One friend said he should have died with his squad that fateful day. He shot himself at home. The sacrifice is real, the vets are real. They deserve our respect!

But ended up helping veterans run 2-3 miles so got them so strong at 50 and 60 and 70 so worked them hard. Some eould say this is too much. I was a drill sergeant with them I got their lungs strong their heart strong. I used to run 6-7 miles a day I thought everybody ran 6 miles a day I guess not. Just turned 60 and still exercising you have to everyday it makes you feel better. Go exercise you get less depressed that way

Thank you Moonshine Bandits for this song. I was a Paratrooper, in the Airborne Infantry in Vietnam, 1969, it reminds me of a situation we were in, it was a V.C. ambush & I used up all my magazines & a buddy threw me one of his, he saved my ass! So when I heard this song it reminded me of that, keep on rockin’ boys! SGT M.S. “ Gunslinger” Smith, Alpha, 1/505 P.I.R. 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, “Panthers” Phu Loi, Vietnam, republic of -1969- ALL THE WAY, SIR !!!

I proudly served my country for 22yrs. When I joined, it wasn't the "popular" thing to do. My body is broken, and my mind isn't what it used to be. But I would do it all over or step up even now. I have heard a lot of songs geared towards the military and they are all great and memorable. But I have not heard one that gets to the heart of it or tells what is inside the heart of every soldier, past or present. Thank you for saying what most of us can't put into words.

@@jakegrube9477 Really? Look at Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. All three are hot zones. Our service members die in those areas. The Taliban occupy those places and yet they are not war zones? I've seen the news feed last year on television when North Korea tried starting a WWIII with us. Also, with Biden being in office, the crime rate in the US is going up, and this doesn't mean that we're entering a war in our own back yards? Biden has already been known to bring ISIS to the US and make them our allies. He is making friends with terrorists, and this doesn't mean that we're not in a war zone? Look at Minneapolis and Washington DC, last year we had the National Guard out to protect the Capitol and the white house because of too many stupid, selfish, greedy and biased people who vandalized and burned buildings. And this doesn't mean that we're not in a war zone? We are in fact in a war zone. Open your eyes to the bigger picture. Nowadays people can't even seem to walk outside of their houses without being shot at. Are you truly deprived of education? Are you that stubborn to think that everything in this world is filled with cake and ice cream? Or are you just too fond of yourself and think that there's nothing wrong so you sit back and relax? What ship have you been sailing on lately? USS Can't Change Me drawers? USS Can't Find A Pair? Grow up and look at everything from a whole different point of view. Do you really think that it's okay for us civilians and military officers to die in veign? Why do you think that some soldiers throw away or burn their uniforms? Or better yet, why do you think soldiers commit suicide? In 2015, roughly 5,000 soldiers took their own lives while a staggering 20,000 went homeless because their wives divorced them. Think about what you're talking about before you say anything please. I go by facts, not nonsense.
