In this video we take a look at the Shining3D EinStar 3D scanner and ask the question, is it worth buying? The best Shining 3D Einstar Scanner | Einstar full review 2023.
The Shining3D EinStar is a desktop 3D scanner that is capable of scanning objects in high resolution. It's priced at $ 1300 CAD, so is it worth the money?
I review the Einstar 3D scanner from Shining3D, show you around the device, and take you to step by step through a scan. Is this the best consumer-grade 3D scanner? Or is it just good at other things?

@@nicolebalian How do you control what size the scanned object will print at?
@nicolebalian
@nicolebalian Жыл бұрын
@@Engineerboy100 Hi Clint, the scanned file will be accurately sized to the object you are scanning. If you want to resize it to fit the build volume of your 3D printer, this can easily done in your slicing software (chitubox, cura etc) without impacting the quality of the model. You can also rescale in a design software to get accurate dimensions.

It is my understanding that after your initial scan (capturing the table), you can set a section plane to eliminate gathering any further points below that plane, greatly increasing processing speed and eliminating multiple cleanups. Mine is arriving today so I'll get a chance to try it out. Great tutorial!

Previously had POP 2 and Mini. Since November the Einstar and this is the best in the price range, especially the software is professional and is the same as with the expensive models from 5k. But the PC should be powerful.

Awesome! Would you say they differ in quality as well?
@thomaswermann6462
@thomaswermann6462 Жыл бұрын
@@nicolebalian It depends, if a powerful computer is used as specified by the manufacturer and you take a little longer to scan, the quality is better than with the pop. I use this in the automotive interior for reverse engineering. Shining 3D has more experience with scanners than Revopoint and you can tell that from the scanner, software and handling

Great video Nicole, thanks for sharing. I'm leaning towards this scanner, but I will be scanning mostly mechanical/electrical components. Have you tried scanning anything like that? If so, how were your results? Thanks!
@nicolebalian
@nicolebalian Жыл бұрын
Hi Raymond, it depends on the item and sizing! If it’s very complex and small, it will be difficult to pick up on detail and maintain dimensional accuracy. I would say this scanner is great for items larger than 6 inches+.
@nicolebalian

I would also recommend using scanning markers to help in scanning and stitching together multiple orientations/scans

Question. When you finish your scan what type of 3D printing are you using to print out the results?? Also is the STL file able to be imported and use in other 3D viewer applications that's align to other 3D printers??
@nicolebalian
@nicolebalian Жыл бұрын
I like to resin print my scanned files because the results are very high resolution! "STL" is a generic 3D file that is compatible with all 3D printers :) It is the slicing softwares that differ from printer to printer, however, the process is the same. Hopefully that makes sense!

Thank you for this video. Can you please provide your computer stats in the video details? I just bought an Einstar Scanner and would like to compare your experience with mine. I've only done one test scan so far and things worked out "ok." I'm trying to figure out if I keep loosing alignment because of my computer or the scanner settings. Thanks :)

I added my laptop specs in the description for you! Not sure what you’re scanning or how big, but if it’s shiny or reflective, it will have some issues. I’ve also had issues scanning items under 4 inches.
@Blue2swing
@Blue2swing Жыл бұрын
@@nicolebalian Thank you for adding the specs. Your computer seems to be equivalent to mine. I've made 2 quick attempts to scan a small 4" figuring. But with it being my first time in the middle of the night with low lighting it didn't go too well :). I found that additional lighting helped some, and I didn't understand what the "red" on the preview screen represented. I learned from your video that red is no good so I'll have to adjust the brightness. From watching your video and seeing your PC specs it seems I should be able to get similar results as yours with a little practice. And yes, it looks like other videos are also suggesting that this scanner struggles with small items but excels with large ones. Thank you again for the video and information. It helped me greatly!

Thank you for this great presentation! I will buy this scanner for my small business. But i have one question to you: How does it work on small objects. Less than 100mm in size. Thank you very much!!! Best regards from Austria!
@nicolebalian
@nicolebalian Жыл бұрын
Thank you Andreas! I’ve scanned items between 100-200mm in size with minimal issues but items under 100mm tend to have difficulty. I would recommend a tabletop scanner such as the EinScan SP or SE if you’re looking to scan small parts.

I was wondering, is there a way to scan one side? That way if object moves. You pause or can come back to scan other side at another time?
@nicolebalian
@nicolebalian Жыл бұрын
Yes! You can definitely pause and come back but there are some limitations. It’s best if an item has tracking markers so if you resume, the scanner is able to re-track your previous data points.

Amazing informercial. But, it's BS. The product is bad - when compared to what the influencers post on youtube - and the return policy is a complete fraud. They say 14 days money back - then it takes 13 to deliver and the refund is only for products you don't touch or don't work. So, yes, complete misrepresentation, does not fit the purpose and it is over hyped by paid influencer marketers. Don't buy this crap! Much harder to use and with much worse results that what is being advertised.

In a word : NOPE! worst $1000 i ever spent - the thing is fussy, glitchy and the reviewers give it way more of a pass than it deserves
@nicolebalian
@nicolebalian 9 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I guess it is dependent on your specific application and what you’re trying to do. At this time a scanner with better resolution, software, and speed is 15k+. Also it takes some time to learn how to optimally operate the scanner and implement ways to mitigate the fussiness (lighting, markers, scanning spray etc).
