Yes. Still have the Puch, although it will get to see much less travel adventure now that we have the Unimog here in the US with us.

Hi Morgan, plan for $3k-5k depending on the ports, insurance and how much import work you will be doing yourself. Transport from and to port is on top. I have used ivssuk.com/ for the Unimog and the Punch. Have been happy with their competent handling. Good luck!

Hi Wilhelm, The duty depends on what is in the back of the Unimog and what it looks like. If it is (and looks like) a Camper, then you pay 2.5% of the total value (base and camper). If it looks like a truck, with a bed or just the frame, it might be classified as a truck and you’ll pay 25%. Ours was clearly a camper and we ended up with 2.5%. The import process was done by our shipper and was pretty painless. Registration depends on the state you are in. In Pennsylvania, it is fairly lengthy, but ultimately not that hard. Translating the relevant documents and making it simple for the civil servant to create the title is key. The Unimog is my third vehicle I brought over and registered in PA and all worked well in the end. Hope that helps.

@@wilhelmalmer6753 I don’t know Atkinson Vos, but coordinating three companies in Germany was enough of a challenge, so I didn’t look in other countries for alternatives. Hellgeth is a known entity with strong ties to Mercedes. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. As for the Boxmanufaktur, main driver was their reputation, their flexibility and their capacity to meet my timeline.
