Hey everyone, there's a missing bit of voice over in the video and i left a note onscreen just explaining what it would have said. basically i accidently skipped the line when reading and was unable to complete it when i returned to it later. for those who don't know already i suffer from a condition called Laryngitis Sicca that affects my throat making it difficult to speak. it was pretty bad for most of today but after reading the script through I was basically completely unable to speak afterwards. don't worry i'll be fine in a day or two this happens quite often, but that's why there is a missing section of voice over

w.r.t making the base components weaker, I get that the shift to that new balancing is jarring. But I think it makes sense. You were off to go up against a serious terrorist group and to loot valuable cargo in a stock ship. I'd expect a seasoned terror group to be able to put up a solid fight and do some real damage. That seems like sensible balancing. Wishing you a speedy recovery :)

I know it’s tertiary to the video but the zero g FPS movement and animation still impressed me, it’s just a huge step up from the old visuals and interactions.

Great and very informative. Thanks for posting Kate! These components have lower HP but also are more resistant to incoming damage. They seem more resistant to energy damage then they are to ballistic damage: Shields: S1 AllStop, S1 INK, S2 FullStop, S3 Stronghold, S3 FullBlock, S4 Glacis Powerplants: S1 Regulus, S2 Maelstrom, S3 SuperDrive (all Mil grade C) Coolers: S1 Bracer, S2 Arctic, S3 Mercury (all Mil grade C) QuantumDrives: S1 VK-00, S1 Beacon, S2 Crossfield, S3 Pontes I have published their resistance data for those interested. Will have a look at ship weapons next as I suspect those might be updated with resistances as well... Cheers, Tanx.

The Retaliators components (base ones, and almost all Military Grade Cs) have extremely low HP pools. So, if a blast hits close to them, then pop... disabled. It's the same issue the F7A Mk2 has.

Tweaking and upgrading the components of a ship you're determined to treat well and fly for a good time sounds awesome, and will hopefully be worthwhile with fair treatment for those less inclined as well. Maybe it can be more intuitive than, say, Elite's kind of messy engineering gameplay?

I wonder if this is related to a few really weird instances of thrusters getting disabled on two-seater ship when flying with a mate (Scorp and Gladiator). I only checked thruster health in MFD and since guns were charging shields up I didn't think the powerplant could be down. As for upgrades according to erkul VK0 ("best", or at least fastest,, size 1 QD also has low HP)

With resource management coming online, you can expect all manner of anomalies, as they dial in all the data. You're storied content is quite frankly top-tier content.

I can at least see what CIG are trying to do with physicalized components. Trying to force that Star Trek, engineer running about and patching things up to keep the ship in the fight. At the end maybe seeing a small light of use for the SRV?

The sad part is, an SRV COULD have rescued you but thanks to MM breaking alternate modes, that poor ship is just a paperweight now. I tried rescuing someone once but even though I got the tow to lock, activating QD broke the tether.

I recently acquired a Banu Defender, and after canceling my quantum tunnelling, I somehow damaged the power generator or something, because shields and engine power was very unstable.

The weird thing is, it's always just certain ships that rubberband. At least it was for me. You'd think it's all enemy ships until the server stops lagging, but no always just certain ones, almost like they got out of sync.

Yes, about every 1 in 3 times I tried the event it was too laggy to fight properly. Hopping regions/servers sometimes helped. Other nights I just logged out.

I had similar problems with the retaliator including shields dropping very quickly and unable to change torpedoes, it would be good to post on the issue council.

I was curious as to what larygintis is and what you are going through to give us these awesome videos, and well it left me speechless. Sorry for the pun, hope it didn't hurt you in any way, but jokes aside hats off to you, making such great videos with that kind of difficulty is amazing

thanks Thomas, Laryngitis Sicca is a chronic dryness in the airway - without getting too graphic it causes crusting to form over the surfaces so speaking becomes really difficult because it builds up underneath the vocal chords where it is very difficult to clear by say coughing. a lot of the time its not so bad but every once in a while there are days where speaking is very difficult and painful because of it

Hi ! NAV speed is not available if the quantum module is damaged. I had this case with the idris precisely.

Its silly isnt it. Nav speed should be linked to the main thruster not the QT drive

I like the idea of making stock components weak... maybe a happy medium between the old and new "weaknesses" would be best.

My ships don't ever leave the hangar till the QT drive, power plant and shields are upgraded.

I tend to keep my ships mostly stock to, not doing much pvp stuff so besides mining lasers on the Mole i am fine with the basic stuff.

super curious in several of your vids... is there a reason you never self heal after taking damage? you were at 26% for so long. lol I'm fairly new, so I'm legit curious if there's a reason other than just not noticing?

Due to editing in the videos you will miss the many hundreds of med pens :) In this instance she was not actively bleeding so the 28% was stable. But yeah tis was best practice to heal back upto 100% if you can. Im a bit curious, when the components broke at the start did anyone try to repair them? I maybe wrong about this but they supposed to be repairable with the multi-tool.

Yup as Skizz advises, we were loaded up for combat so didnt have the equipment on hand for repairs. To be frank all ships should have that equipment as stock in a locker or something. Like having a tyre iron etc in your trunk

What point in the event did this happen? I noticed around Thursday, it seemed like XenoThreat suddenly became a lot more aggressive in space and were suddenly relentless about attacking their targets.

one of the last days. However I noticed it can depend on how well the server is running. Some of the bad servers didnt even spawn npc ships in some cases

After the 2nd went down. I spent the next day replacing all those broken components. I cant beleive how bad some stock components are. Genuine error by CIG? Forcing you to upgrade? 720,000 credits to fix this on my retailiator with alternative parts!

Maybe the plan is to sell an upgrade package on the pledge store next. Or just another varient of the ship with the upgrades already installed.

It's one reason i was hoping they'd get Maelstrom and armour in before they did the gold pass and module damage... bullets always go straight through and stuff only has hit points, modules have 0 defence whatsoever. At least with armour they'll have to destroy the armour before it goes in and damages the modules.

I thought the reduction in stock equipment Durability was for the future engineering gameplay...That will suck immensely for large ship owners who solo content..they should have added AI crew members before any of this. They are not thinking this through very well.

that event was horrible, i fully finished the whole event 3 times and didnt get the reward armor, none of the missions failed and all of them had status compleated, i contacted support two weeks ago and still didnt answer me, so yea very good event indeed

This just underscores my biggest complaint about CIG. The game devs seem to have NO clue how to create interesting gameplay and never seem to consider the ramifications of their botched decisions on new players.
