If anyone's wondering where "Alex Kidd: High Tech World" came from, well, it's based off a game about this anime. It also makes the game make a bit more sense: the show is about a princess-to-be who's very carefree and tomboyish, much to the chargin of her mentors. Hence the tedious tasks featured in the game; it's her training for becoming a princess. And while it makes perfect sense in Anmitsu-hime: the Game, it simply doesn't translate well to Alex Kidd.

I know all about that. Nintendo wasn't the first to sprite hack one of their games!

In the original game, instead of Anmitsu finding the parts of the map for the purpose of going to an arcade like Alex would do, she instead she looks for the pieces of the map which were from a newspaper in order to go to a cake shop.

who would have thought such a cutesy anime would spawn one of the most frustrating and cruel games from SEGA's catalog?
