Welcome back to Shitsurei!, the podcast where I your host Kamimashita have conversations with people around the anime community. I've wanted to talk to Joe for some time, and was happy to finally carve out some time to sit down with him. His videos are incredibly informative, his channel is consistently praised by others, and his style is something you can't find anywhere else in anitube.
Despite that, his channel has remained stable for some time. Here we talk about why that may be the case, his general approach to KZfaq, and his plans moving forward.

1:00:45 "I don't know if it's out or not but the next video is on the Four act story structure of Attack on Titan". That video came out over 3 months ago so you must've recorded this a while ago. Glad you didn't let this interview disappear into the depths of your hard drive as I love hearing from both of you. Thanks for making it!

I agree with P&S is right about him not being an academic. He just simply is way more thorough in research, talks about and/or makes more connections than other anitubers, and has this air about his that general people only ever encounter of a professor or other member of academia. I do enjoy P&S stuff, even when it can be as dry as bad jerky at times, because he often talks and makes connections to facets of Japanese society and experiences that I cant easily obtained. Most Anitubers just regurgitate memes and common reddit and 4chan discussions and lines of thoughts.

As someone who hasn't been around/ involved in the community at large long enough, these have been very helpful in giving a lot of insight and highlighting people in this way that I haven't been exposed to just by their content alone. I really enjoyed listened.

I think I get it, Pause and Select doesn't make "Academic reviews", he makes "Investigative reviews", where he does a fair amount of research and presents his reviews based on what he found and his conclusions.
