DID YOU KNOW ? The Marathas fought the war of 27 years against the Mughals from 1681 to 1707 on the Indian subcontinent, the longest war ever fought in the history of India AND emerged victorious. After this there was no other power to oppose Marathas . The Maratha cavalry continued its onslaught initially under various Maratha generals like Shinde, Nimbalkar, Bhosle, Jadhav etc. Under Shahu, this expansion in the north was led by Bajirao & his aides Scindia, Holkar and Pawar. @@rangari01 After Panipat , Marathas again took control of Delhi, then Abdali dint came back and till 1818 ruled India. And in Panipat Marathas lost because they went against the war principles laid down by Chh. Shivaji Maharaj and due to treachery by some Indians . So we are called as Mard Marathas who dared to fight and defeated the Mughals.....as no one dared to do it

If you talk history in terms of figures and numbers, plzz note that Ashoka didnt had 99 brothers, Aurangzeb got 23 out of 309 Shivajis forts in Treaty, not by winning. which shivaji captured back in span of 6 yrs. Shivaji escaped Aurangzebs prison in such a dramatic fashion that made Aurangzeb wary of marathas, spent 27 yrs of life just to crush a tiny maratha kingdom and in the end lost it.

@@Aquibkt No, it was a Stalemate situation between Mirzaraje Jaising and Chtrapati Shivaji maharaj. Mirzaraje could not win, and chatrapati did not want to prolong the battle which he saw as no easy solution in the short and medium term.

yeah, Rajputs fought for Aurangzeb, mainly on orders of mullas from Persia and Turks, even Shivaji`s father was Genral in Nizamshah and Adilshah´s court. So rajputs fought was nothing new, the whole idea of freedom and fighting for Dharma was lost in that era, thats why none of the Rajput kings who fought for Mughals in that era were respected as people respect Rana pratap, and shivaji. They brought this zeal of freedom and dream of country ruled by our people and not by the invaders.

Please use name with his title. Say Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. You know clubbing Shahaji Raje with Rajput kings who served Mughals is incorrect. Shahji raje tried to establish independent (Swarajya) kingdom two times, however he failed and was sent to Bangalore. Maharana Pratap, Chhatrasal Bundela are respectful. But the Rajput Kings who refused to rebel against the mughals even after having resources, fought against and killed Marathas in Deccan and Ahom in Battle of Saraighat shall not be put equal to Maharana Pratap, Chh. Shivaji Maharaj or Chh. Sambhaji Maharaj or even Chhatrasal Bundela

@shafijami Ashoka was one of the most blood thirsty person ever existed on the earth. He led war on kalinga and killed more than a million ppl. but bloodshed changed his mind set. and next 50 years of life he just spent in spreading peace. Welfare of society. History has seen many blood thirsty and imperialistic kings but not like ashok. thats why ppl call him great. He was true Chakravartin, because he conquered his weakness. Maratha Empire मराठा साम्राज्य - Maratha confederacy was an hindu power that existed from 1674 to 1818. At its peak the empire covered much of South Asia, with aterritory of over 2.8 million km². The empire was founded and consolidated by Shivaji and successfully fought the Mughals to defend his kingdom.The Maratha empire waged war for 27 years with the Mughals from 1681 to 1707 which became the longest war ever fought in the history of India. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious.

Event was battle of Rajasthan, when Pratihari kingdom of gujrat,sindh & rajsthan defeated Islamic armies of Umayyad khalifa. And Indian hindus still worship idols, there is philsophy behind.Hiduism allow different ways of worship to God, out of that one way is idol worship. Other ways of worshipping god are 1.chanting, daily praying (bhaktiyog) 2.Staying true to your duty (Karmayog), 3.Meditation & finding what really is God (Gyanyog). Idolatory isnt bad at all. bad is biasedness w/o knowledge

By 1705, Marathas had penetrated Mughal possession of Central India and Gujarat. Nemaji Shinde defeated Mughals on the Malwa plateau. By 1706, Mughals started retreating from Maratha dominions. Aurangzeb died at Khultabad (Aurangabad) in 1707. The defeated Mughals released the grandson of Shivaji, Shahu from captivity. With the death of Emperor Arungzeb in 1707, the Maratha army marched in to Delhi itself, within that decade forced the Mughal clan to confined to Dehli. KNOW YOUR HISTORY -SON.

This is not real history. The Mughal Empire was defeted by the arrival of British. Maratas are very strong. But after Shivaji escep from Aurangezeb he didn't made war with Mughals. After the death of Aurangezeb, the later mughal rulers love a luxurious life and their are civil war in Mughal empire. They didn't didn't have intrest to rule a huge empire like Babar-Aurangezeb. They only want a luxurious life. If there are Babar maratas are no long. Also Maratas defeted by foreign muslim attacks like Nadir shah and Ahmed Shah Durrani. Delhi was reconqured by Shah Alam II and Maratas join in his army after maratas defeated by Ahmed Shah Durrani.

Why to talk abt bairamkhan, read anywhere in history about how Aurangzeb tourtered and killed Sambhaji, the son of Shivaji. in one of most brutal ways history has seen ( took the eyes, cut his body in many parts, few ppl took his corpse and stiched together, they now have family name as Shivale). I guess you are fanatic, who dosent read the history with secular mind.

Aurangzeb died a broken man, with his empire crumbling around him, he wasnt able to defeat the Marathas or the Sikhs either, after his death the Marathas conquered most of the Indian subcontinent within 20-30 years and the Sikhs went to kick afghan ass as far as kabul.
