Pertaining to the label’s distinct global flavour and taking influence from the cultures of the Near East and Asia, the album is a largely collaborative effort which utilises 18 of the label’s beatmakers and multi-instrumentalists to merge cross-genre electronic and traditional music in their own innovative rights.

No disrespect to anyone but just because a label calls itself Tribal Trap, doesn't mean this isn't tribal trap. If a label calls itself Dubstep tomorrow, dubstep will still also be a genre.

Thanks for the love. Totem, Honeydew and In The Court Of Kush are heavily influenced by / composed around 808 basslines, and to a lesser extent Cardamom Daze and Introvert Activism so that's the reasoning behind the tribal trap tag to represent a part of the comp. both psychill and psydub are used to refer to very specific sounds these days and we try to only use it for that (Globular, OTT, Kuba, Shulman, etc.). but even many of the OG psychill/dub artists & labels (i.e. Shanti Planti) have moved towards trap cadences in the past few years as the general musical current has swayed that way (psytrap / psybass). These days, psychill can be tribal trap and vice versa (Honeydew is probably the best example of that), etc. We were also trying to focus more on the 'tribal/ethnic' side of this compilation, rather than the psychedelia as the compilation's main premise was recording lots of different instruments. Anyway, just minor semantic differences, they all work IMO :) We're gonna play around with the tags anyway so you'll see them change. - Baxtak (co-curator for Shivelight and Outtallectuals label director, also wrote track 3 with Haquin :))
