As much as I love the original Jeremy Jordan version of this,, I am completely in love with this version.

Dang this song is incredible. At first it just sounds like a guy excited to go to Broadway and then you realize it has a double meaning for a guy about to jump off a building. And it perfectly catches the feelings and thoughts in the moment. “The last thing I hear as the impact grows near / Is it a scream or a cheer / Well never mind I’ll never find out cause broadway I am here” I have literal chills oh my gosh.

Yo if I was motivated enough I seriously would make an animation of this. Imagine, Michael Mell falling and falling towards broadway street and as he falls he thinks of all the memories he's had.... And towards the end he is laying there he hears the "scream" or "cheer" and then when Goerge gasps at the end of the song, michael wakes up from surviving some how and Jeremy is the first person to show up. I saw this performance at Two Player Game last month, and it still gets me. George has made such an impact on my life, and the fact that I got to meet and talk with him, for about thirty seconds, was absolutely amazing. I wish I could be back at 54 Below to see him again.

What I took from this song It's about a suicidal man. Don't you love it when you listen to this song and think 'oh wow this is pretty' and then you see George actually singing it and then you realise what the song is really about then you just s o b? Or is that just me?

The experience of listening to this depends on how you take the lyrics. If you take the entire thing as a metaphor for success [on broadway] it’s really awe inspiring. If you take it in it’s literal sense as someone committing suicide, it’s (for me at least) incredibly heartbreaking and real, especially the bridge and last line(s). As someone whose been there I relate to this song a hell of a lot.
