I really appreciate how reasonable your approach to comparing hiya and monsterarts stuff is. You don’t throw around over generalizations based in steep biases, you recognize positives and negatives in both and are willing to give credit where it’s due.

I know a lot had said that SHMA's size is more to-scale with Hiya cuz it's bigger, but just cuz Hiya's Goji is bigger than SH's that doesn't automatically translate into "the bigger ver. is the more to-scale to Hiya's". Take SHMA's Ghidorah, that dude is, kinda bigger than Hiya Toys's, but it's not really scale accurate, especially with the size of the head and neck. I know in the movie Shimo looks huge, but it is relative scaling. Movies got issues with consistent scaling due to sometimes they take artistic liberties, it's much more convenient, or it's too hard to keep everything consistent. So Hiya took an easier less troublesome route and just use official height. Shimo's official quadrupedal height is 114,3 m or 375 ft. Using Hiya's possible scale, 1:666,6 (based on the actual size to their figure size in the utmost default pose), Shimo's quadrupedal height would be 17,15 cm. Hiya's announcement shows that Shimo is 17 cm, which could be 17,15 but said 17 for simplicity sake. This and seeing the prototype on display next to their Goji, it is to-scale. I feel like it's just a matter of you just want them bigger, not cuz you want an accurate size. Which is fine, bro, go for it. David vs Goliath display is a classic when it comes to a vs display. Sometimes you just want the enemy to be waaay bigger than the heroes, there's no shame in that. But since Hiya is more consistent with scaling (aside from K:SI to the rest of MV), you should probably keep the sizing expectation to official stats accuracy when it comes to them. SHMA seems to be leaning more towards satisfying those who prefer David vs Goliath look, which is why their SK and Shimo is larger than what they were supposed to be. SK being 5 mm taller than Kong, and Shimo already being on eye level with Goji even in quadrupedal stance. I'm actually feel sorry for Jp fans, cuz they got priced out by SHMA Shimo, but having hard time getting Hiya as an alternative, due to the policy that doesn't allow Hiya selling figures in Jp. Us overseas, could just shrug and buy Hiya's instead. I personally won't buy SHMA's regardless, since I am a bit strict when it comes to the scaling and aesthetic I would want in my collection, but I can see the appeal to just say screw accuracy, me want big boi... or gal

I wonder am I the only one that actually plays with their SH monster arts figures because every time I watch a review about them, they always say like stun thing about putting it on the shelf

I took a look at the 2 figures for articulation and the SHMA has might have 1 more joint and the forearms, equal joints and the hindlegs, 1 less tail segments and much better head and shoulder joints but I'm worried that could cause the figure to look hollow in some poses the the GxK Goji. 2 things I've noticed with Hiya is that their figures are heavier which makes the dynamic posing easier and they release multiple color variations, so this is the first release the second and third ones would probably be chareged Shimo with a breath effect and a translucent with effect. On the point of price, SHMA is always expensive with qc issues, but Hiya, Neca, and Hammond Collection are affordable with similar qc issues. I understand the point you made, but if Bandai's model kit company can make near perfect action figures, why can't their action figure compamy make reliable products. Every Bandai Spirts, SHFA, and SHMA figure is a total guess as to quality even though they are at premium price

Just a share of what i've seen(not related in this vid😅) I seen in instagram a picture of shimo and evolved goji side by side, looks like shimo's head height is at goji's shoulder and her spikes reaching godzilla's head, dunno maybe just about angle or stuff(yep, im talking about Hiya goji and shimo) (and about this video, i agrees hiya shimo wins, its just great at every aspect, shma still has some good flaws tho)

Monsterarts is too expensive, the price of them use to be much cheaper, the first monsterarts figures made were around 50$ now they cost like 90$ or more with no accessories

Here’s a quick answer… HIYA toys is better!

The thing is, hiya is only going to keep getting better and better. SHMA has had years to really nail down their paint applications and engineering and yet we haven’t seen much change. In fact, in some cases they’ve taken a couple steps back. We as a fandom, have experienced a number of horror stories where the paint isn’t all the way there, loose joints, popping joints etc. hiya hasn’t really had this issue apart from very minor paint issues. Keep in mind, hiya hasn’t been making Godzilla figures for that long. It’s kind of insulting for SHMA to continuously pump out figures that aren’t up to par when we dump tons of money for a single figure. It’s crazy. I was very cautious when hiya began on their Godzilla line because for the longest time I thought nothing would come close to SHMA. Now I can see the Godzilla community has really been taken advantage of with the introduction of competition.

So, I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't find it a bad thing to use concept art to make figures. Hell, there is some concept art of Monsterverse Mechagodzilla and SpaceGodzilla that I'd love to see adapted into figure forms. However, SHMA Shimo is an example of how to do it the wrong way.
