Shmar | Minecraft City Tour

In this video I will do a tour of a city that I have been building called Shmar. Shmar is a solo-built, fictional city based on Chicago and similar midwestern cities. It is a project that I have been working on ever since 2014.

This is amazing, good work. After about ten minutes i started feeling like i was being watched because how liminal some of the buildings feel, but that just kinda made the experience better in my opinion lol. Good work on this

It is on a superflat world, but I raised some sections of the city so that I could build a subway and an underground Union Station.

@@FoolishAvenger Yeah, the superflat world I made is only 3 blocks deep so I just put a layer of water on top of the bedrock. I would recommend making a superflat world that is 20-30 blocks deep so you can have enough space for bodies of water and underground structures.

How did you design the layout and arrangements of buildings in your city and how did you know what building to add at each section?

The road network was made somewhat randomly, and as for the buildings I usually look around on Google maps until I find a building that would suit the area. Although I don't copy them exactly and I change aspects about them to fit the area better (size, shape, color, ect).

how do you plan the roads for cities?

It's mostly random, I usually start with larger roads and try to link them with smaller roads inbetween.

Minecraft version 1.20 release June 23rd for 2023 you can actually begin with villagers starting to moving into the city came with bring warden to minecraft next updated patch version 1.21 forests and wood updated

@@OutLunar I have a RX580 and I have also noticed other shaders bugging out. I am not sure if it is a GPU problem tho.

Mob spawning is disabled by default, you can turn it back on by typing /gamerule doMobSpawing true in chat
