First side of WAR is my favorite U2 material. Bloody Sunday is my favorite song. The most impassioned lyrics, vocals, & playing they ever recorded.

Clayton's driving unrelenting bassline filling space for Mullen's martial drumming is just masterful. And after the solo Edge jumps into the mix with the muted strumming that also sounds martial.

A song that recounted the event that started the period of the Troubles. And yes the snare drum was supposed to mirror the march of soldiers marching on and firing on unarmed civilians protesting.

U2 always plays with conviction and truth. Such an important band with so many masterpiece songs. One song I doubt you'll get to, because it was never released on a U2 album is Night and Day. It was from the Red Hot and Blue Cole Porter tribute album. Their version is classic U2, Bono's haunting vocals, The Edge's shimmering guitar with an incredible dance beat behind it that never lets up. I'd recommend it to your attention.

Damn this brings back great memories! Especially when their live album ‘Under a Blood Red Sky’ was released in 83’ and this song was on it. Loved it! I was into them right up to ‘Rattle and Hum’ era,

This is the album when U2 went from Boy to man , excuse the pun 😃 This was the album that put them on the map. Red rocks etc. so much maturity to their work from their previous 2 albums . Different sounds and different layers to their music. It was a record to fill arenas and eventually stadiums. Boy is a great album , it’s post punk , wasn’t that keen on October but again post punk . War was where U2 became their own category. They go from strength to strength over the years and albums to follow. Live as a band arguably becoming the greatest Looking forward to your u2 reaction going forward . This is where it really gets interesting , probably up until after all that you can’t leave behind it was a lot of things but always interesting
