In this African street interview, we will ask Rwandan women questions about feminism, dating, and relationships. Like always, this is for fun. Don't take anything too seriously!

What she said at 2:42 is a very common mindset amongst modern women. They want the benefits of a committed relationship along with the freedom to behave like single women (e.g. entertaining other men, thirst trapping on social media, etc.). The funny thing is these same people will talk proudly about their culture and how this person or that person doesn't understand their culture...Yeah, do you think your grandmother had male "friends" and constantly advertised herself to other men while she was with your grandfather? Is that your culture?

It is very important in Africa for a man to be responsible and able to take care of his wife and kids. Secondly, most of us help our husbands and are not in agreement of feminism. Men and women are not the same. Women can't do what men can and neither can men do what women can. We are different for a reason.

I love the practical reality of these video. Black American interviewers in Africa romantize the mother-continent more, possibly due to dissatisfaction w/ American society. Your perspective seems more grounded in Africa, thus you can ask the question that an alternate culture may not want, or know to ask. Additionally, the responses you receive seem more genuine. I respect the frankness of the responses, and somehow I'm not offended by what is said. Black Americans are more likely to be offended by being called Golddiggers and less likely to be internally truthful about accepting 'money over love'. Nevertheless, I love my people Black American and African alike. RESPECT!

Feminist in the day to day living sense, means being independent, having dignity, and being proof against carrots being dangled over you for companionship or marriage. That a lot of guys find offensive and unapproachable, bcuz they are not ready to be with a woman and got bs they want to run and get over with. And if a woman is carrot proof, it’s not gonna go down with her. And that’s what feminist means to the guys. Women they can’t lower and dangle a carrot over.

very interesting! I'm sorry they feel negatively about Americans. I've had some negative experiences with Africans, but I don't think all of them are mean and think they are better then Americans. I have African neighbors who speak and some who won't. I had one who didn't speak until I saved their 1 (maybe 2) year old who was in the street one night. They were standing there not paying attention. Now they speak and talk to me.

If you, lower your standard, for content , when you are asking deeper question, you are stretching the belief, that you are sincere. It is ,as well, you might hand out, an appropriate definition of the word in use, to hand to anyone, for continued edification. @@jpaultelchannel1702 Here's the difference: Rwanda was a Belgian colony from 1919, and had French as the official language. The Belgians referred to the citizens as "Rwandaise" which, in English translated as "Rwandese". However, after the 1994 genocide, the new Rwanda Patriotic Front government (Paul Kagames) was dominated by Rwandans who for 30 years had been in exile in neighboring Uganda, which is English speaking. These tended to refer to themselves as Rwandans which is a more English-based reference. Plus, the French and Belgians had a part in the genocide so the new government did everything possible to distance themselves from them. For example, English replaced French as the official language and as the language of education. These days both terms still work, and it's a matter of preference.

I think most those women you interviewed have a French background, they tried to explain about dating in Rwanda. I can add my experience: when it comes to pay for bill restourents most of the time guys pays, or who every who have a habit of paying among couples or you share your bill as in their household the responsibility is not on a man only. Rwandan women most of them do not prioritize money over love, but to win her heart will cost you a lot of time and money too, but for your information she will stuck on you and to breakup with her may take you double the energy you used to get her. hahahah

Thanks for your comment. But why are you guys promoting French so much? 😂They have a Kinyarwanda background, not French.

@@WillieFungo Hahahaha, they have kinyarwanda as their background but at the end of the day they do their education in English or French that's what I meant as some of them used some french words accidentally 😂 welcome to Rwanda

Just subscribed. Can you ask them how would they feel about plural marriages. As in a man with multiple wives.

We talked a little about that behind the scenes. While polygamy is not technically allowed in the country, it is not uncommon among the Muslim population. But I didn't get the impression many non-Muslim women were interested in that lifestyle.
