The square bar with the lead on the end of it could well have been what was left of some wrought iron fence post that would have been set into a capstone on a wall and have lead poured into the hole to set it into position. These were cut off during WW2 to provide materials for the war effort and this piece may well have been liberated from the capstone after it was broken, possibly during later demolition of the wall.

Hey guys! Love what you do and enjoy following you here in New Zealand. The "pulley" is an insulator which is used to attach or anchor an electrical wire to a post without the post either earthing or conducting the electricity. Use them here on the farm. Keep up the great work.

Apparently there was an anti aircraft variant of the 18 pounder shell in WWII which likely explains how that shell ended up where it did.

Hi There, another great video, the big ceramic lump you picked up in the stream that looked like a pully is an insulator for connecting two cables that need to be electrically isolated on power lines or maybe transmitters.

I was thinking lately about asking if y'all would like to do an international trade 😊 I have some really cool American relics, and we could match equal coolness. I realize you don't know me, so I wouldn't mind to ship first, then you could send something cool after you get yours. It's just an idea, no pressure or expectations if you aren't interested. Again, love from Tennessee USA ❤

That 18 pounder, was that a gift from Adolph? or was it homegrown? Champion fishing finds today, and the mudlarking was also fun. Have you ever found any Roman pottery when you mudlark? That's really fascinating to find such old items after all of those years. As always, I enjoyed every minute. That would be outstanding to see the Peaky Dippers do an episode from France, you should plan ahead.

Thanks alterman, Yes we think it's one from our German fights but not 100%. All along that stretch was feircly bomb in ww2 . I've only had some roman pottery on the London foreshore tbh. We are in serious talks of going to france to meet our new made friends. Thanks for watching and we appreciate it 🙏

The shell appears to be a First World War German 77mm Shell with a hz14 fuse. They were the German equivalent of the 18pr. It is distinguishable by the 3 grooves at the base of the shell. 77’s could be high explosive, shrapnel or gas! This one looks like a HE! These were fired from field artillery so it won’t have been dropped by a plane. How it ended up in an English river is a mystery! You hear the odd story of British soldiers sending back souvenirs, including live shells, to their families. If only it could talk! Great video as always 😎
