This time we received an order to cut into slabs a huge expensive log of bog oak, about 5,000 years old. The result is slabs 7 meters long and weighing about 1 ton. Bog oak, a unique material that nature took thousands of years to create. Bog oak is extracted from the depths of rivers and swamps in those places where oak grew many thousands of years ago.
Black stained oak is a noble, rare and valuable type of wood. No wonder its mining is compared with the development of deposits of precious stones and metals. This is a troublesome and expensive process, which certainly affects the final price of the product. For several centuries, elite furniture has been produced from bogged black oak, which adorns expensive offices, aristocratic salons and museums.

I have been working with bog oak for 5 years. The logs were recovered in Iowa, 20 to 60 feet underground, by accident. At that time, very few Americans knew what bog oak was, including myself. It has been a huge challenge to process and market this product, but well worth it after seeing the finished product. Mother Nature did some magnificent work.

В 90 г у нас в Питере доставали Деревья Сосна на Шкиперском Протоке Васильевский остров самая первая Верфь Петра Первого !так Там Пригнали Краны с Дом Высотой ! А Тут Дуб !!! А его в пятеро крутят Вертят , и так скинь Пруфы , кто искал пошлю ему пару Опилок !

Here where I live they operate gravel pits on a very large river floodplain and redgum trees 10000 years old have been pulled up from the ancient river beds. Its perfectly preserved in that low oxygen environment.

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. kzfaq.infoUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

I wish I spoke Russian. (I sure hope I at least got that right) my family has owned a beautiful thousand acre farm in Virginia. It’s been in our family for over 280 years. It was originally 40,000 Acres back in the 1700’s and we have lots of it with mountains. So many huge, beautiful oak trees. When I was a kid and they harvested many of the oldest trees that were hundreds of years old, I remember crying when they’d cut the biggest ones down. I wanted my kids to see some of those trees when they grew up. I so enjoy your videos. This video about 5,000 year old oak trees is so incredible. I’m going to be watching much more of your videos. Already been sharing with my grown, young sons, and they love and appreciate your work, too. Oh, it just hit me. I can use google translator to read the comments and convert to Russian. Keep up the great work.

Каждая жизнь священна, каждое деревце уникально и нельзя его лишать жизни просто так, всё взимосвязано, любое на первый взгляд бесполезное дерево очень полезно и оно живёт не просто так.

Exactly. I assumed he survived or the video wouldn't be posted, but he was living on borrowed time. That log was not supported properly, incredibly dangerous. The expensive finished slabs will probably wind up in the homes of Russian mobsters. This is really kind of a sad video.

Только мне одному показалось что у них проблемы с техникой безопасности. Дуб то классный. Да ноги и руки заново не отростают. Пока ролик смотрел раз 20 хотелось подзатрещину дать. Взрослые люди следите за безопасностью.

I love working with trees ,you never know what's inside. I like how it stays from rotting by being underground .like the kari trees in New Zealand. Beautiful work guys .from the redwoods in northern California.

Thank You. A guy goes to return a chain saw he tells the salesman this saw is no good you said id cut upwards of 60 trees a day its only cutting 40 i want a refund, the salesman said let me see he takes the saw extents his arm and pulls the cord and the saw goes Varoom Varoom, and the Customer says Hey whats that Noise. 😂😉

I have seen pine and cyprus logs that have sank in rivers or lakes. They have beautiful colors in wood. This is first time seeing a bog oak, jet black and gorgeous.

@@samwright285 thank you.. the black is staining from being submerged for years. Chemicals in water and the mud seep in an produce this very unique coloration.

@@samwright285 If I recall right, they are called 'sinkers' (they sank). Long ago, logs were floated down rivers to the mills. Large mill ponds stored logs and water made it easier to move them. Some sank, but there were thousands of other logs so no one bothered to retrieve. Also along rivers and lakes, old trees fell into the water and ended up on bottom. Most of these logs are very old, tight grained, and the staining can't be reproduced artificially. It takes hundred years to look like this. Logs are rare and very very expensive. Over 10 grand for a small log.

Beautiful tree! Most guys don't use the guide rails on the Alaskan sawmill after the first pass. If your first cut was fairly flat, that flat surface is your guide for the next cut. You can cut thinner boards if you like and not worry about hitting your guide anchor screws. Heck of a huge piece of wood to handle by hand. Nice job guys.

Такое надо пилить на хорошеей пилораме, ленточной пилой, а не этот дикий колхоз с бензопилой. Сдается мне что эти таварищи просто не хотят светить этот дуб и все не очень то легально.

@@user-wo6jq7lu8s По сути нет ни одного законодательного акта что мог бы разрешить частнику добыть а уж тем более продать мореную древесину. А с 2015г. водным кодексом на это вообще прямой запрет поставлен. Формально она считается полезным ископаемым и нужна лицензия на добычу полезных ископаемых... короче, нужны большие деньги и знание кому их сунуть чтобы не ходить под статьей.

The word is oh my something of that beauty isn't something you see every day. I used to see things like this being pulled from swamps on TV in the deep south of America and they were beautiful this is even nicer. Can't believe you got to do this. Морёный дуб, это да-а... Это действительно дорого.Дед рассказывал, что на Оке, на границе Тульской и Орловской обл. был специально сделан затон и барин приказал утопить там несколько хороших дубов. До потомства старался. Не пришлось.

It could be used as a (near) perfect match in filling any gaps in projects made from the tree. Using it to cover screw, nail, etc holes would help make them even less visible than using a generic filler. I imagine there are other uses I don't know. (It IS possible to make things entirely out of sawdust, but I haven't seen anything worth mentioning in particular.)

What does it do to the wood to make it good for that,I was thinking about a guitar, I know somewere up north they were recovering some wood that had been up water for years and was using it to make guitar body's, it was years ago,I know sound travels best in dense materials ,I cut an old wild cherry tree down and that wood looks dense,I know a lot are made of mahogany, just wondering.

Such a straight trunk. He will probably be very old. It's amazing the texture of the wood when cut. Rare wood. People will pay a lot of money for products. Professional cut of workers. Great guys.

Дайте Оскара этим богам))) начало как премьера фильма ужасов, не хватало только напряжённой музыки, каждый распил в ожидании страшного. Удивительно, но все остались цельными. А вообще находка конечно крутая, лишь бы они из этого дерева пол в гараже не сколотили🖐️😉

да я бы порадовался если бы кого-то придавило . вот честно я как работник деревозаговки и переработки ЗНАЮ сколько стоит этот ствол. и представляю Сколько денег они просрали! на моменте раскряжевки бревна у меня начался нервный тик. в момент зажима шины у меня потекли кровавые слезы. а когда он САМОРЕЗЫ в ствол крутить начал... жена пошла вызывать скорую ... а прикинь если бы саморез обломало! я в диком ужасе...

Добрый день, такого рукажопа свет ещё не видел. По середине пилит🙃. Корни сперва, из него хорошая столешница получится. Пластиковые клинья зимой, он просто наглядно показал как не следует делать. Благодарю учитель. 🤣И да одень очки.

@@zelenograf4321 не, я смотрела цены на кубометр мореного дума.. там есть цена и на пятитысячный.. чем дольше дерево лежит, тем дороже кубометр. Возраст определяют с помощью ... какого то .. . углеродного анализа, как и останки ископаемых животных и людей.

I wonder what you could make using the black sawdust??? At 92% H2O, I wonder how a freeze drying process would do to keep the structure good. No shrinkage, splitting, checking, deformation.

Кошмар ! Сердце кровью обливается , стыд и позор .... Работа как в 18 веке - заказы на десятки тысяч долларов а у "мастеров " даже погрузчика нет ... руками таскают ... и пилит "на весу" - рискуя ноги переломать ... Как посмотришь "ролики", здесь же в ютубе (какая техника у "пильщиков" ), стыд берёт за нашу Нищету.....

I did a HUGE CEDAR this way it was hard , but the boards were beautiful. Made a beautiful kitchen table and chairs out of it.

These men, would understand exactly how I moved my coop onto a foundation all by myself. An elderly woman at the time I was only 73 and I had one shoulder crippled. (it has now been replaced or repaired.) they are using the same techniques a little at a time. A little ingenuity, a little old fashion, techniques, and a lever. If I had help, I could’ve done it faster.

This log is the dream of ever woodworker and or sawer. These men are really strong and hard working but even they could use a tractor, excavator, fork lift or something on a log this sized. Even the slab are extremely heavy. Looks like 12-16 quarter

save the black sawdust mix with wood glue to use for patching scratches or any imperfect spots. it works I have used this for many wood projects.

"... Деревья умирают стоя..." какие грустные , печальные слова... Мне до слез смотреть когда пилят дерево ... Срубили мое ореховое володое дерево , плоды уже были... По приказу исполнительной власти района... Видите ли дерево им мешало... Правда , корень уже дал побеги...
