From someone who comes from Kenya, I have to appreciate how clean this place is, it's better than most residential areas here

People from the West need to understand one thing that: what they call Slums in Africa are not typical slums ..they are organised peri-urban areas with lower to zero rentals...very clean and traditional....you wont even find a drug problem there....

Perfect example of what I have always said. Poverty does NOT mean living in FILTH. I wish them all the best and pray they are able to improve their situations.

My brother, I would rather live in this so called 'slum' than in Detroit street boxes. You have done a good job but be careful not to over-emphasize on negative publicity of Africa. This has killed us for a very very long time now and it has to change.

What is interesting is that the community in the area find it important to observe hygiene measures...no littering around with trash, there is no raw sewage flowing in the area.Security in the area is good with no gun violence or drugs.Rwanda seems ready to move into the next phase of development.

That slum is soo clean

Honestly, this slum is by far better than the slums I have seen in my own country. Organized and clean without any raw sewage spilling and unlike many slums, I have observed that here the slums are legally connected to the national electricity grid. In most African slums electricity is illegally connected and passes underground for those lucky enough to get the illegal access. These slums are quite habitable, not like slums in Brazil, India, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, SA, and my beautiful country Kenya.

I was born in kinshasa (DRC) and this looks like normal to me even cleaner than where I come from and now been living in cape town (SA) this place looks better than some of the slums here in SA

I respect these people even in their slums cleanliness is their priority,I really want to visit.

This place is nice compared to many many slums I’ve seen. Hell, I’d live there. It’s just undeveloped. It’s not even overcrowded. Rwanda is the place to be. I’ve seen the country and I’m just in awe! A model country to the world.

Good thing is people are gradually moving into homes and out of slums. So, we’re seeing progress here. Hopefully Uganda, Nigeria and Kenya slums get better.

I've noticed that quite a few commented on the cleanliness of this place , which means that most of us appreciate neatness. It begins with us; not littering. Shall we also educate one another not to litter, until its our second nature and we get our cities and towns clean? Africa cannot be associated with uncleanness.

Honestly, I don't know exactly how to react to this video, did anyone else notice that this slum is still very natural and neat? What can we say about a country with effective policy.

This is the one government I would donate to just because I know they will spend the money well. These officials deserve to get paid for their job

This is a good view of the inside of a poor community. I grew up in an area like this in the US. To a child it does not seem so bad, you find places to play and have fun but as you get older you realize you are the poorest of the poor. I have faith in Kagame and his resolve to clean the area humanly, unlike Brazil which burns out the poor in the favelas. Of all the riches a country have loyalty and patriotism is most valuable and Rwanda needs all of it young people to have pride and a sense of ownership in their country.

i lived six years in a neighborhood much like this one and I really enjoyed living there. people are very genuine and there is real community in your neighborhood!

You call this a slum? You need to see places like Lagos Nigeria and even the US. Maybe there is something to be learned from the materials they use in home construction, energy efficient and great for the environment.

This ‘slum’ is by far more habitable than many parts in Detroit, Los Angeles and even Florida.

That's the cleaned slum I have ever seen. And I have been to slums in so called western countries. Slums do happen unfortunately,but these people are clean to the core and that's very commendable

While anyone can easily drive thru in slums in my native country, this slum is very clean compared to slums that I know of in many African countries. Wow! And they even have electricity which most African slums don’t have. Thanks for the interesting video anyway.

It maybe called a "slum" but what's interesting to note is the absence of garbage scattered around like in the the streets of cities like Philadelphia particularly Kensington avenue.

I am sure the first thing one should have noticed is safety and how people are free with their movements. It is rare to see boys and girls in USA of the same age as in the video freely walking on the streets of slums nor major city's street without adult supervision or in our moving fortresses called cars.

I have traveled worked in Rwanda there's no bad thing about reanda, they're friendly, welcoming people everything about Rwanda is beautiful so there's no need to bring up the past unless it's that negativity always coming from the West and neocolonial system and those who stand with that expired ideology. By the way I'm a driver long journey so I know what I'm talking about Rwanda is the beautiful icon of Africa don't be a hater.

That's not a bad slum. By African standards its amazingly clean and safe. That is basically lower lower middle class estate. Here in Kenya you would need the police to guide and protect you during your filming.

This is the best, most organized, beautiful and solid constructed slump in the entire world, when compared to slumps in India, China, Bangladesh and South America. Way-to-go Africa.

From the slum I've seen in many parts of Kenya, and the very worst of the worst ones in Lagos Nigeria. This slum of Rwanda will be the first class standard of living for the two above mentioned countries slum habitants. These Rwandans are very clean and healthy, and it looks like they have every thing they need. Anyone from any background can eat and sleep and enjoy the company of this beautiful community. The only thing they lack more is the space, more land that can be used to build decent houses, and an open space to grow their food with streets lights of course. Otherwise Rwanda slum is a privilege to other African countries slum. As a SA citizen, I say Rwanda people are very blessed to have a leader and president like Mr Paul Kegama, God Bless You Sir and your People. I know many SAns are very proud of you. I know that Mr president will fulfill the promises of upgrading those people standard of living. THANK YOU VLOGGER FOR SHOWING US HOW OTHER SLUM LOOKS LIKE. I grew up in cameroon . This would be considered a normal neighborhood in the capital city . These are at least clean . In cameroon you won’t be able to breathe in the slumps with human/ dog feces everywhere .

This slum is luxury compared to those in nyamirambo, nyabugogo, kimisisagara, etc haha. But poverty is everywhere, and I personally think the government is doing a really good job

I lived in Nairobi, for over 12 years. I was familiar with the poverty-tourism circuits of Kibera (so called largest slum in Africa) and other slums like Mathare and Kawangware, etc. If this is considered Kigali's sh*th%le, then Rwanda's people are literally head and shoulders above all other African cities! That slum should not be completely destroyed!!! IT SHOULD BE PRESERVED AS A HISTORICAL PRESERVATION PROJECT!!! FUTURE Africans and Rwandans need to see the ingenuity of their people, just as visitors to Greece and Itally can view ancient architectures!!! Please, government of Rwanda, this is an incredible, City Planning and Architectural preservation site! AMAZING!!!

I'm from England and have been taking more notice of Rwanda since our scum government has decided to send asylum seekers there. So far it seems that Rwanda is a far nicer cleaner country with a respectful clean welcoming population. Even one of the 'slums' I've just seen is cleaner and safer than a lot of places in the uk. And it seems Rwanda has a real human being running the country not a monster like the uk has at the moment.

Even Rwanda's slums look better than working class people's houses in my city... shhh

Although it is called a slum but it still looked clean, cleaner than some cities in Nigeria. I am being truthful here. And if you think otherwise, then place this slum side by side with the slum in Lagos, Nigeria and then make your comparisons in terms of cleanliness to prove me wrong.
