I think Potter had no say in most of the winter transfers. It feels more like Todd consulted to identify young talents in the market and went about spending on them. Potter is given ingredients to cook up a team who can challenge for trophies. If only they brought in a good manager and identified players as per the managers suggestion and system of play they won't be at this stage.

As a Belgian, we feel that Chelsea, getting De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku in early 10's was a fine move according how it turned out. Salah as well. Yet only Hazard made it through while Romelu and Kevin (and Salah) left because too young / banned by omnipotent coach. Picture it : out of those 4 players, only 1 got successful with them when the 3 left did it elsewhere.
