Medical doctors are not speech pathologists, special education teachers or even necessarily pediatricians. DE son needs to be at least evaluated IMO. His dysfluency may be temporary and easily resolved with speech therapy and with time. Kids sometimes go through benign periods of stuttering. Going between English and Igbo at home may also delay speech or speech fluency. In our school district if you speak 2 languages in the home, they automatically want to put the children in English Language Development. My granddaughter’s speech was delayed and now we can’t stop her from talking. 😊 Hope it all works out for them. DE is a sweetheart. ❤
