I took the bus from Chengdu to Tibet, and then from Tibet to Xinjiang in 2007. Trust me, the road condition is much better now.

We did the train from Chengdu to Tibet mid2000's. Great trip. Bus wasn't possible when we did the trip.

I did it at the end of 90s, from Chengdu to Lhasa, by truck, the the road was called Death Road, but the scenery is stunningly beautiful. Now the road conditions are way way way better!

Just look at that road infrastructure. China has certainly got it right where civil investment is concerned, and this is just the ONE road. Include their high speed rail network, and it's obvious they plan for the people rather than corporations. Take note, USA.

What a great trip. It's great to see Long Distance Intercity Bus Trip in China, because in big country like China, people prefer to take flight or train, especially in China they have massive High Speed Train network. The route is breathtaking, 180° different than metropolitan counterparts, plenty of winding and mountainous road, between cliff and water zone, and definitely agree when in bad weather is full of uncertainty. It's surprising me to see, the Google map is working. I hope in the future you can do more Long Distance Bus trip report like this, since previously when I watched Trip Reports in China, it always train or flying. Lastly, greetings from Country in Southeast Asia who recently have it's First High-speed Train from your country.

It is also known as the "Scenic Boulevard of China" because it traverses multiple provinces along the way, offering a comprehensive glimpse of China's diverse landscapes. This is one of the most popular cycling routes in China, with countless enthusiasts embarking on journeys every year. Some start from the beginning in Shanghai, while others begin at various points along the route, all with the goal of cycling to Lhasa. If you have the time and a passion for cycling, I highly recommend this cycling route!

You'll have to cross 14 snowy mountains, often encountering continuous uphill roads for tens of kilometers. Additionally, the high-altitude oxygen deficiency can affect your physical strength. Most importantly, you'll frequently stay in cities along the way, linger in the city for several days, sample local cuisine, and explore around.

Es fascinante conocer un país por vídeos y más aun tan lejano como China. Me impresiona la infraestructura las pistas, puentes, túneles etcétera todo aquello que facilita el viaje entre ciudades.
