It’s such a tough situation as an Arsenal fan because most of us are desperately trying not to outwardly say we’re going to win the league. Then we get told that if we don’t win it’s the biggest bottling ever. In all honesty, I’ll be gutted if we don’t win it but the progress we’ve made is absolutely unbelievable. Considering how good Utd and City have been and we’re still 5 points clear makes me love this club even more

well, you know what....as a gooner.....i would have given up 19 years of getting in to european cup if we had won it once.....other teams have got in once or twice and won it.....finishing fourth is not a win, it wins nothing and in the end i hated it as its all the fans wanted, top four, and its all wenger wanted....im glad he went in the end cos to win the league we needed to change and if we are to win europe we need to change....

Sadly Wenger who was a defender in his brief playing days could not really create a consistent backline towards his last 8-10yrs at the club as he inherited a great backline & did exceptional with Cole Campbell Toure Lauren & after that was which led to hammering from opposition which led to disbelief throughout. Felt sorry for Wenger at times as one of his top 5 players would depart near every summer.

Fulham, Brighton and Newcastle being where they are shows this season has been the most competitive premier league season to date.

Well here's the thing. So far this season it really HASN'T been a struggle for Arsenal. That's not to say they don't work hard or they're not playing amazing football or they don't deserve to be where they are. It's just recognizing they went ahead early on and never looked back. As a City fan his argument is comforting to me. Because, you see, it appears they're going to win this race without flinching, even if they lose their game to City. Simon has cast a shadow of a doubt on that. If he REALLY believes it's going to be a struggle for them then I don't see it as an obvious statement as much as I do an exceedingly welcome one.

I agree its 50/50 there's still a lot of points to play for and we've seen in recent weeks how quickly things can change in the table. I'm just really enjoying our football and being serious bonified contenders. If we do manage to win it I think it would be fully and totally deserved.

@@DruMMaSt3R666 Simon can be a bit full of sh*t sometimes. He makes lots of valid comments often in an articulate manner. However, sometimes he is simply wrong. For example, he didn't think Ten Haag was up to the Man United job earlier in the season (even after they started to get some decent results). That opinion hardly aged well despite his poor attempt at backtracking in recent weeks.

What makes you think Man City will have better goal difference come the end of the season? Arsenal have been more free flowing this season than City have. Still think the game at the Etihad end of April will be hugely decisive. A lot of football matches to be played until then. The question is, can Arsenal maintain this into the run in when the pressure is really on. City won’t let them go, they’ll push them all the way as usual so it’s whether Arsenal can hold their nerve and keep winning. Remarkable achievement to be in a title race in March the season after they bottled that top 4.

People keep saying arsenal are going to struggle when Europa starts back, playing Thursday to Sunday. I think the champions league will be more of a distraction to city, they want to win that more than anything and I fully expect them to go full strength in every match.

The sum of all parts is more important than over analysing all individual parts isolated. The old adage of a team of champions vs a champion team. When arsenals system and the players playing their roles well is so difficult for teams to play against, it's no surprise that they've done so well. They've got an almost total football mentality where the attacking players are able to pressure and tackle and the defenders can push up, are capable on the ball and offer playmaking and goalscoring threats... all the while the players are of different moulds and offer differing threats whether it's a more methodical player with good distribution in zinchenko, a slight yet strong dribbler that draws multiple defenders away from the centre in saka, a hard working industrious attacking mid in odegaard, or a brilliantly nimble winger/inverted forward that has a keen eye for goal in martinelli... they've got a lot of different options to play through and make it hard for opposition to be able to apply a blanket approach to shutting them down. It's not just a matter of having class everywhere but rather having a range of varieties of approaches with everyone still playing within the system and having a good understanding of each other, coupled with a mentality to fight until the last minute rather than let heads drop. The fan support has helped that immensely and the acquisitions made this season have hit the mark immediately despite having major setbacks in key players being injured. They're only going to get better with more familiarity with each other, more personal development as players and the ability to focus on fewer but larger signings given the team doesn't require a massive overhaul and should be granted a larger war chest to play with as a result of achieving the levels they're currently looking to achieve, with players that previously would have overlooked arsenal now watching on from the sidelines and wanting to be a part of this project that can kick on to be extremely dominant for years to come.

Winning tittle or not we know this season has already been amazing. why not believe we can win it. i will outright say it that we are winning the league and if we dont end up winning it i know we have already done more than what we hoped for and i think its just the start in grand scheme of things. i believe we will get better year by year in both premier league and in champions league. Last year Liverpool were exceptional and this year Arsenal have been. Arsenal are not anywhere near as good as Liverpool last season but with such a young squad have shown an exceptional improvement and motivation as a team.But Liverpool were not quite good enough to win it last year and Arsenal are not good enough this year- because the extent to which Man City have been allowed to get ahead of everyone else's playing strengths and coaching wise is massively underestimated. They unlike all others are comfortably winning while resting their strongest players for the run in. The EPL is not competitive- it's a monopoly- there is only one Team who can win it. Maybe Chelsea or Newcastle and United will challenge them next year- but the outcome will be the same.

Majority of arsenal fans will say city are favourites. City have an unbelievable and deeper squad and considering where we were last 2 decades, this is an unbelievable and dare I say, overachieveing team with a great future. If city win the league, it's not a bottle job. We're taking on the best team in the world and we are so far ahead

I can't say who I'd prefer to win it. I am doubtful it'll be United will manage 1st, this season. It's scary even to me what sort of mad genius hybrid of a squad United will have if Qatar steps in. Eras do come to an end and dynasties begin. Here's my problem with either club winning. On one hand City winning does provide them a 3 in row. I guess that's what elite "sponsorship" will do for a club. If Arsenal win, we'll never hear the end of it. For the next 20 years we'll all be hearing 2023 Champions. Either way, I think we can all agree it's both extremely appropriate and absolutely imperative we never forget the state Chelsea are in this season. .....kicking a blue

Seeing a lot of winging from Arsenal fans on here, I don't think Simon said anything wrong here. We've been saying it all season. There's so many games to go ahead of us, modern fans these days think 5 points clear is like being 15-20 points clear! 1 defeat and a draw and the pressure is back on. We've got Anfield, Etihad, St James Park all to visit yet and a home game against Chelsea. City will drop points but so will we. I just think fans who've never been alive during a title race before better take a chill pill and see how this all pans out. Keep supporting the club even through the hardest of games. We're still top of the league and we've had Partey missing, ESR missing and Jesus hasn't played since mid November. So it's looking promising! But stay realistic aswell, the last few seasons we've been diabolical and now all of a sudden We're going through a period where everything is clicking for us. But we've all been arsenal fans for too long to know this could do a flip 180 on us when we don't expect it. Don't forget, in a title race, the pressure really comes with 5/6 games to go... not 13/12.

Simon makes some very fair points about both City and Arsenal. If Arsenal win all the games to City and City skip up once or twice with losses, even as a City fan, I don’t see how City can win the league. Also, if Arsenal can win the “easy” games coming up like they did v Everton, they can inflate their GD and still win league even if City and Arsenal are tied.

What Simon and everyone else fails to realise, is that there are more teams that are outside of the top 4 than those outside the top 4, and if Arsenal lose less games to the teams that they are "expected to win" than what Man City does, it means we accumulate more points. Man City is dropping points against the teams they are expected to beat and Arsenal is not.

Look at man city's run in it's not easy, especially when you add champions League knock-out matches. For example champs league quarter final then away at Brighton. Champs league semi final midweek then away at relegation battling Everton. Then the next leg followed by Chelsea. There are banana skins everywhere. Even their upcoming home game Vs Newcastle is not a guaranteed 3 points, and away at Crystal Palace is definitely not
