This was a real treat! I'm so happy that his life, career, and talent is commemorated and celebrated in this way. Being banned for life from something he loved so much and was so extraordinarily talented at is heartbreaking. I'm sure that somewhere Joe is smiling down at being remembered so fondly a hundred years later. Thank you for this.

I noticed that in the photo of him in front of his liquor store counter, the cash register showed a purchase of 40¢. Can you imagine being able to purchase anything for 4O¢ in a liquor store?!

I grew up in Greenville. My husband and I bought our first house about 5 min from where the stadium is now. West Greenville used to be really rough. If you didn’t live there, you didn’t go there unless it was to the hospital. It’s nice to see that part of town getting some love.

Sadly In 1951, Joe Jackson died of a massive heart attack a week before he was to appear on the Ed Sullivan television show. He was scheduled to receive a trophy honoring him for being inducted into the Cleveland Indians Baseball Hall of Fame. He was also to tell his side of the 1919 fix. Jordan thanks again for taking me to a place I have ALWAYS wanted to go but never did. Hopefully, one day MLB will re-instate Shoeless Joe, Buck Weaver, and Pete Rose (so he can take his rightful place in Cooperstown).

I enjoyed this follow up from yesterday’s video. How can he be omitted from the hall of fame ? Look how much he is loved and admired. He is advertised and honoured all over the place. I’m actually peeved off about it, I hope they change their minds one day soon. Thank you Jordan. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺

I hope one day baseball comes to its senses and allows Shoeless Joe in the HoF. Look at how they honor this guy after his death and a century after the scandal. An injustice that should be reversed. If those owners just paid the players a decent wage the scandal would've never happened.

This was a terrific vlog. Although an overseas viewer, I read the novel 'Shoeless Joe' back in the early 90's and, of course, watched Field of Dreams. The idea his spirit visits the gift shop is a really uplifting thought. Many thanks Jordan.

The MLB has banned a number of great baseball players from the Hall of Fame because of gambling. Ironically the MLB is now in business with gambling. The MLB and NFL wants to add sports betting to every stadium. Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose should be forgiven and put in the Hall at this point.

As a Greenville resident myself, Shoeless Joe Jackson does not get the reputation that he deserves. But anyways, glad you enjoyed visiting our city! If you ever decide to come back you could do a video on Chadwick Boseman in Anderson, SC!

My grandfather was a huge White Sox fan and Jackson was his hero. He was a streetcar conductor and if he got the line to and from Comiskey Park he would first ask the people what did Jackson do first? When the scandal broke and Jackson was involved it broke his heart and he never followed the White Sox or sports again. Cool place I would love to check that out someday

ANOTHER GOOD VIDEO MY FRIEND ! Its to bad what they did to him.. He ( as you know ) had one hell of a game , then to get blamed for throwing it. Sucks ! Almost like the Salem witch trials ! Only they didn't kill him. What they did was worse , ruined his life... THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.....

The "evidence" on Jackson wasn't his hitting or offensive, it was his defense. The "investigators" noticed that he committed an usual amount of errors, missed throws, and missed an unusual amount balls that he would've normally caught. I'm sure that can be explained with nerves, playing in an unfamiliar stadium, nursing an injury, and others that were on the take interfering with him. Ironic part is some of those on the take didn't even get paid. The smart players asked for cash up front. Other players took the fixers' word that they'd be paid after the Series, and never were. Another big problem was there was a good portion of players that were illiterate and were hustled every which way till Sunday, but didn't have a leg to stand on because they "signed" the contract or paperwork.

Mlb are hypocrites. They now have gambling involved and so do all the other sports. One day very soon they all will get in big trouble with gambling . What will they do with their Involved/ guilty players and employees? If they forgive them or punish lightly..there has to be a major movement for him and Buck Weaver . They already served the sentence of being banned for life. They're 7:16 dead .
