Here's another highly anticipated video about being an amputee. Who is it highly anticipated by? Who knows. But it sounded like the thing to write in the bio of the video.
Here are several different shoe options that I have in my closet! There are some more but they are pretty similar to the ones I show in this video so didn't feel like doing more. Also I don't use a shoe horn on my shoes - a new rule I've made in the last year or so is if I need extra equipment to wear it, it's not worth me buying.
So here's the video showing the types of shoes with different feet.

Love you all and all your support. Been going through the roughest year yet but I am making it through. Excited to be posting again for you all!

Hey Annika, thanks so much for doing this video on shoes!! The suggestion about putting a zipper in the back of the boot has opened up so many options for me. Because I live in Canada where winters are long, cold and snowy, a person definitely needs boots . . . warm boots that preferably go as high on the leg as the boots you've shown in this video. Boots are a killer to put on and off. With your zipper idea I now have tremendously more options! Again, thanks so much for doing this video!! God bless.

So glad I could show you that zippers are an option! Boots and prosthetics are definitely harder but totally worth adapting!

No I think it's great that you have found a way to wear your boots without making adjustments. I think maybe certain feet have a little more leniency in things like that. This is good information and I love learning things from others!

thx for the video on footwear. I'm currently alternating between a lace shoe and flip-flops in one leg (no prothesis leg yet). different terrain, needed different footwear. gripping on dry and wet surface is important.

Yes you definitely need different footwear for different activities. Hopefully you get a prosthetic leg soon and can start experimenting what shoes work and what don't, but more importantly, learning which activities you are able to do! So exciting! Good luck!

I found a shoe brand EVEN BETTER than crocs! I've been corresponding with the company for a few weeks in preparation for a video in December (you and I really seem to be reading each other's minds on video topics). I can't talk about the brand until everything is ironed out and the video is up, but it's a game changer.

Video request: a video about the different types of feet you have, their pros and cons, and which one you'd go with if you could only have one. Same for suspension systems. Second idea: I would LOVE a rundown on the different athletic legs you've tried. And also life hacks for athletically inclined amputees.

"Tie like normal" she say... holder her foot in her lap with her chin... I'm not sure that counts as normal. But... I'm here for it whatever works in the moment. There are definitely times I wish my feet were closer to my hands when tying shoes.

I would love to know whats happening for you now. Have you done any acting yet and have you been pursuing any sporty pursuits. Great to see you back. You are naturally engaging and look great. Love the way you integrate your style with your prothstetic. How much do those legs weigh?
@AnnikatheAmputee

Just posted a video today about an update! Hope you can check it out. My legs typically weigh between 4 and 7 pounds, depending on the components on it. Not super heavy, but a couple ounces can make all the difference when it comes to prostheses.

Even before my ampuation, I loved them for river and water shoes because they float! I get they are not great looking shoes but they are very practical for things like water. My buddy wore them as shower shoes when he deployed too!

Any success in adjusting your leg for riding, and do you use riding boots when riding? (Or did riding end up being more or less that one time in your previous video?) Love your content as always. Greetings from Norway!

While not an amputee, I enjoy learning about the technology and such behind prosthetic, especially some of the high tech bionics. That snowboard foot is really cool, also cool that you can leave the foot in your boot. How long did you server after your amputation? I thought you had already been medically discharged by the time you had your amputation.

I was in for 9 months post amputation. They really just waited for me to recover before I was medically retired. I miss it all the time but trying to make the best of my situation on the outside.

Are you a K3 or K4 amputee? I'm a K4 and since my foot has a hydraulic ankle, it accommodates a wider variety of shoes than a K1 or K2 foot. My understanding is that K1/K2 shoes have to be basically flat, like not even sneakers (an average sneaker rise from front to back is 5/8" so it's not actually flat).
@AnnikatheAmputee
@AnnikatheAmputee Жыл бұрын
I am a K4 but I don't know much else beyond that. I have several feet and most shoe wear works with it, but you occasionally run into situations with more specific types of shoes like heels and boots.

No, not really my style! But I think some amputees might. They would just have to make the adjustment for their prosthetic foot
