Shannon your foot health is so much more important than any shoe please rethink giving that slide another shot...it's just not worth it sweetie. I'm 62 and know from experience. Take care of your feet they support our entire body.

I used to think you never grow out of shoes, but then I started trying on all the heels I had from my 20s and couldn’t get my feet in any of them. My feet have gotten wider. Donated and sold all of them after many years of hoarding them 😂

A good reminder video. Our feet change as well as joints over the years. At 77, I finally realized some heals won't do anymore. I've begun to invest in better shoes, and refuse to wear anything ill-fitting. Transitions, not always easy.

I have orthopedic inserts from a podiatrist. I also wear Vionic shoes and Spenco shoes which are fashionable orthotic shoes. I have very little arch so I have to have these. They make sandals as well. They are expensive but you can always find them on sale. My clothes are thrifted but I won't wear cheap shoes. Your feet are important. If you don't have the proper support, it affects your hips, knees and back.

I switched over to minimalist/barefoot shoes and I have 3 pairs of shoes to wear right now. with two pairs for warmer months. 😆 I do have a few pairs I've been hanging onto but I know I'll never wear them again so I just need to get rid of them. I would say that those wedge shoes are uncomfortable and hurt you because they are not flexible in any way. Of course, that's me coming from a barefoot shoe mentality. 🙃

I have had a terrible time decluttering shoes in the past as well. No matter what, the shoes always fit! I had to laugh when you posted how much you got for selling them. Barely enough for one meal at McD’ these days. After a garage sale last summer I decided it’s not worth my time and effort to sell much of anything anymore. I put it out ny the road for free or donate to local women’s charity or thrift shop. I feel good that it’s not going to the landfill and someone is getting use out of it (hopefully). Keep up the momentum!

Shoes is one category I am good at for me. 😂 I usually just wear the same pair of tennis shoes/ sneakers every day. I have a couple dress shoes for weddings a couple pairs of boots. And in reality if I wanted to I am sure I could scale back to like 6 pairs total of different foot wear. I do have my wedding shoes somewhere.

Neither my husband nor I are sentimental with our shoes but we both kept the shoes that we were wearing the evening that we met! Lol! Not sure how long we kept them, but those were really hard to throw away when the time came. His were sleek, looking white leather Capezios, and mine were white huaraches, the year was 1989! :-) We’ve been married 34 years! ❤ I’ve been doing another pass through my whole house lately, just did my room, master bath, laundry room cupboards, part of the kitchen, 2 storage rooms, and 2 side tables in my living room. Comfortable shoes are way underrated!! 🌸 I live in Florida so I have maybe about 5-6 Clark’s flip flops in various colors. They are the most comfortable! Outside of those shoes, I probably own about ten pairs, including a pair of older tennis shoes for yard work and a pair of hiking boots worn once a year. ASICS running shoes are my favorite as they offer the best support! Great decluttering! I’m going through my house purging things I no longer need. I’m selling a few things and donating others. We’re contemplating downsizing so it’s a good time for this. Closets I think are the most challenging! I’m a good squirrel. I’m a fairly neat squirrel but I can pack stuff away like crazy. 😂

I decluttered my shoes, they all fit on one two tier shoe shelf. I only keep ones that fit and support my arches. (Which I discovered relieved back pain!) You asked what I need to declutter…. I am retired, worked for 50+ years, I have 50 years worth accessories! I already decluttered scarves, now it is the costume jewelry. On a daily bases I wear the same two pair of earrings and my watch. Dressier occasions, I wear something to go with my 3 or 4 dresses. Seems pretty straightforward, unfortunately I get my stuff out, feel overwhelmed and put it back! I feel a little more inspired to forge ahead after watching you with the shoes. I love your videos and look forward to them, they are all so genuine.

Hello hun, although I'm quite older than you, I too would hold onto shoes and had an attachment to them. Quite a few years ago I was diagnosed with a physical disability. It led me to stop being able to wear heels of any type. But in my head, I held onto them, thinking maybe some day I will. Twenty years or so later, I was able to come to grips with the fact it will never happen. So I was able to get rid of at least thirty pairs. I also do the same with purses, so I down sized those as well. It's funny how we can let our minds convince us of things. Keep up the good work honey. You working, makes me work. This seems like the year everyone is making back their space im also decluttering myself.my problem areas are closets as my apartment doesn't have a large closet i can never figure out how i accumulated all the things that i have especially the junk drawer. I had a bottle of sparkling water which I couldn't open threw away the bottle as i thought I didn't have a bottle opener i found it this morning while decluttering my kitchen drawers 😂

I struggle so hard parting with shoes and bags! I had a back/neck injury in 2019 which prevents me from wearing.much of my shoe stockpile. My beloved platforms (tree stumps as my boys called them lol) are sitting on their shelves gathering dust and I cannot force myself to part with them. I think not only am I emotionally attached, I spent way too much money on these shoes and that's another reason I can't get rid of them. The struggle is very real lol. Proud of you though!!!

I ended up disabled 12 years ago - it was so hard to let go of work outfits and dress heels - I can’t wear them so don’t know why I kept them- purses are also my weakness- not high dollar just all the colors 😮

Hey Shannon! Kudos! I think I’m down to only 10 pairs shoes??? I probably had 30 at one time? I kept picking away at it and love having a more manageable amount now. Sometimes it takes several passes to get it to that. I’m loving this series and doing a take back your home series but just this month to test my house for the new year. You are doing great. 💜👍💜👍

I’m loving this series. I have so many areas I should go through and declutter. The most dreaded is my office. I used to have a career and have everything from my working years. I’ve been a stay at home mom now for 4 years. It’s so hard to part with all my desk and office supplies but do I need to hold onto all the desk things?? And paperwork… I worked in Human Resources so it’s paralyzing to me to get rid of anything 😅

I live in cold northern New Hampshire and have maybe 4 pairs of shoes, a few pairs of boots and no sandals. Thought those shoes were for your entire family! You did it girl - you decluttered and organized. Great job.

I currently have the most shoes I have ever owned in one go. I have fake crocs for going out in the garden, my Nana's worn out trainers(sneakers) for if I'm just popping out and/or want to be comfortable, black high tops for if I want something smarter than the trainers and wellies which I never seem to use. My husband has slip on shoes, steel toe capped boots from his old job he keeps for mucky work and a nice pair of leather Solovairs (like Doc Martens) I can't imagine having 30+ pairs like most people. My mum has an entire (large) chest of drawers for her shoes, most of which she cant wear anymore cuz they have heels or are pinchy

I have arthritis in my feet. And 3 screws in one foot. So I honestly have 1 type of shoe that doesn't make me cry or cause me pain. I wish I could wear all the pretty shoes! Love this, I'm living through you girl. Love all the shoes you have.

I started my closet yesterday. I did get rid of one large black bag of clothes. I do not like buying shoes, so I don’t have many. I did have two cardboard shoe holders from about 30 years ago. I ordered a new shoe rack for me so I can get rid of the cardboard holders. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Next is the dresser and then starting linen/toiletry closets. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Our 3rd bedroom is actually our office. My husband is a hoarder of lots of things, but especially electronics. The closet in that room is stuffed with monitors, those small cassettes that stuff is saved in. Boxes of them. My goals for this year is to deep clean a room a month. That backpack purse is in great shape other than the super easy strap fix. I hope it went in the donate pile! You can even safety pin it so people can see where it goes and know that it'll need the fix, but they can use the safety pin in the meantime. Are your wedding boots maybe packed up with your dress or other mementos instead of with the regular shoes?

Shoes is on my list this weekend. Been putting it off for months. Regarding the foot scale, I remember our Mom outlining our feet on a sheet of paper to go buy us school shoes. 😃

I’ll be honest, I had to smile at all the shoes considering we always see you guys either barefoot or wearing flip flops 😉 I sorted out shoes a little while back and I too had pairs that were not comfy anymore so they were easy to declutter. The only “old shoes” I kept are my wedding shoes; I can’t wear them with anything but I can’t let go. But that’s OK since I have room for them! I never give or sell shoes - I’ve always heard that since they adjust to our feet they are not really suitable for others. I thus wouldn’t buy used shoes either, even if they were almost new. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I only wear supportive tennis shoes/skater shoes, boots and slides now. I used to wear those thin sandals, so bad!

I outgrew my shoes! In my teens and 20s I was a 7.5 then in my 30s an 8 now I like an 8.5 and I even have a couple pairs of boots that are 9 so I can fit thicker socks when I wear them! LOL But I still tend to hoard shoes I never wear...Its time for me to declutter too.

It's not just the over 40 crowd that would be better off kissing those heels goodbye. My daughter is in her early 20s and got sciatica after a night out clubbing in heels. She works in a daycare and has to lift and carry kids all day so it was a very painful lesson learned.
