3:16 Samurai: ow my balls

Different engines. In ME2, everybody attacked everybody and sync kills were only complimentary. In Shogun 2, they focused heavily on the dueling aspect, meaning once on the battlefield, two soldiers would seek each other out and perform their own fight even in a fight of 200+. Units with higher numbers could still win though as by spending time fighting, stronger units would lose armor/durability etc.

@Pinxixus yes, i had to repeat this battle MANY MANY times because more often than not the two soldiers would run at each other, take one swipe and kill the guy...obviously i wanted more than a 2 second fight so i had to cut and paste tons of different fights together to make one, sorry for any editing mishaps :)

I reckon it's hard enough to animate fights between two soldiers well without dragging more into the equation. It's been the same with other Total War games too. That doesn't mean an unrelated soldier can't stab someone already in a fight, just that the animations won't be directed towards those sorts of battles.

This some samurai warriors shit right here.

I imagine that where the 2nd guy kicks the samurai in between thats th border of the country and that if the enemy gets in the country's border he loses it makes it seem more EPIC

I have a good idea. Since the Hero is a hero and defeats everyone, you could make it look like Japan has sent out a bounty on the Hero. So, then he is up against say hordes of archers, and he imagines a volley of arrows killing him until he snaps out of it, dodging all the arrows and ripping through the enemy lines one by one. You could make a whole miniature series out of this with video clipping lol

During my Chosokabe campaign, I was besieging a castle with only a Katana Hero unit & the usual retainers as garrison. After shooting the retainers with arrows, I decided to be chivalrous & give the Katana heros an honourable death. The goddamned bastards killed 300 elite samurai before dying. Last time I show any bushido bullshit in battle!

Wow i didnt realized they put more awesome animations into the game than i thought. usually i dont see it because i was busy finding good camera angle for my Chosokabe archery carnage :P i love the Chosokabe. Btw this game is amazing, i have no idea how they manage to get that real time rendering down to the last arrows that can miss and accidentally hit units behind it... its madness

@MultiMusicMeister it seems like you're on the right path, the only tricky part was that i changed the values in the most recent patch pack, which at the time was patch4.pack, for some reason it ONLY worked when i changed that one, hopefully that helps

@aljonzc sorry guys, it's not a MOD, i use green screen type video editing to put a pre-generate blood splatter over the actual movie...so basically you don't see any of that blood in the game, only after i'm finished video editing it...sorry

@puskov3 read some of the other comments, but long story short i found the patch.pack files and opened them up with pack file manager for shogun II then edited the number of soldiers in the unit to '1'

So that's why I see a dead clone of the guy in blue at 1:41.

@TheDukeOfZyr Technically you should be able to make them longer if you go into the values of the units and set their melee defences really high and attack low.

i really wish they bring back the ability to go look at your city in full 3d like in the original Rome, i miss the city siege in rome, soo many streets to bottle neck your opponent for epic massacre.

@KingsofSparta sorry i have to laugh...haha...there's no way to make them longer, you just have to keep restarting the battle...these are basically clips from some hundred different battles that i had to keep replaying because sometimes the guys would run at each other and kill each other on the first swipe...so yea, no way to make them longer, just record a LOT of fights and then piece different clips together to get one long battle!

Wasn't it done in Medieval 2, where you could have multiple people stabbing one guy? I remember it often happened in sieges. The first guy who jumped off the siege tower would get gang-banged by the defenders from all sides.

Someone doesn't think in terms of honor. What good is it to have beaten someone in a such a dishonorable way, when people (rightfully so, this wasn't a fight on a huge battlefield, but a personal duel) will look down on you for it?
