Everything has a ripple effect and none more in baseball that Shohei Ohtani's signing with the LA Dodger for 700 million dollars.
Among the beneficiaries will be the KBO and the MLB front office who will now turn a profit rather than take mud in the face for their 2024 season opener in Korea.

Yeah, fans will pay whatever is charged for this series. The Dodgers are the premiere MLB team in Asia ... you pair Ohtani with the LA brand and it's a wrap.

I wish the ticket price to be set in high money. If the tickets are cheap, the price would shoot up in the resales market anyway.

Expensiveness of the tickets would not matter, since the number of seats is just about 10000. Only super-rich people can see in person.

I barely understand what you're discussing, but I only watch the whole video because you're the guy Jeeho Yoo talked to the other day. #TeamJeeho

I'm not too convinced that ohtani is going to draw as much fanfare in Korea as you're making it appear.

Honestly if prices are too expensive the average person won't go, but again I think there will be a lot of people from Japan making the trip over. A lot of people come to Korea to watch Kpop concerts. I can see a lot of people making the trip from Japan if they know they can secure tickets. If anything I could see travel agencies putting together packages and stuff like that. But yeah I could see how it might not be a priority for Koreans if prices are even more than the failed exhibition games.

@@baseballnow1 My comment wasn't related to the pricing, but rather the fact that many Korean people absolutely hate Japanese people.

Do you think they will be more excited to see Shohei Ohtani or Ha-Seong Kim?
@baseballnow1
@baseballnow1 7 ай бұрын
That's a good question. I've gotta think Ohtani since Kim already played in Korea for 7 years. This will be Korea's first look at Ohtani. While Ohtani is amazing to see, he has killed Korea in International competition. There will definitely be people who hate him while respecting him. Kim will be loved but obviously not as highly regarded.

@@baseballnow1 Yeah I was thinking the same thing I'm sure there's lots of people in Korea who both love and hate Ohtani. I'm a Giants fan so I hope the Padres win and Kim can enjoy that in front of his "hometown" crowd. I'm also excited to see what Jung Hoo Lee can do with us!

I never seen a Japanese player as popular in Korea as ohtani. Sentiments in Korea has been changing especially last 10 years. I recall the first WBC in 2006, there was no love lost among Koreans towards Japanese baseball. Ichiro had some nasty words about Korea (he claimed Korea would not be able to compete with Japan for 30 years then was triggered losing the game to Korea. And said the country smelled like fish). Korean hatred and distrust for their former colonial masters ran deep for generations, Korean players planted their flags on the pitchers mound after the game. Japanese pressed called it shameful act. But it seems there is no many in Korea that haven’t heard of ohtani. And there is much more respect for each others baseball now. And soccer for that matter, both countries has been dominating both sports in Asia for years which are the two most viewed sports in the countries. Might be hard to believe but South Korea had a ban on Japanese media until the early 2000s. The dodgers is perhaps the most famous MLB team in Korea. Chan ho park, was the first Korean to play in the MLB and in the mid 90s he was perhaps the biggest superstar from Korea. Not just athlete but the biggest celebrity of that era. So the dodgers coming to Korea is a great move.

Shohei will cancel his trip to Korea on the day before the game. Why? Because he has to take care of his dog. He could take the dog with him, but he doesn't want to take risk, if you know what i mean😉

The Seoul's stadium will be filled with mostly Japanese fans lmao. Koreans will not pay that enormous amount to see some baseball game even though Ohtani does have a big fanbase in Korea. Koreans are used to paying 20 to like 40bucks for the game anything more than 100 will not likely to sell well.

precisely why Ohtani saved this event. If Ohtani didn't sign with the Dodgers, Japanese people wouldn't have been interested either. The whole thing would've flopped!

korean ohtani fans will definitely pay that much. It is much cheaper to get that ticket than to fly to LA

You made this video with mentality of communist North Korea or China (LOL). If your mindset is the one from capitalist South Korea or the United States with dynamic pricing, you'd absolutely WELCOME this GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to grab this coveted Padres vs. Dodgers (with Ohtani!). Int'l travelers both from the U.S. & Japan can bring in hefty amount of money to Seoul. But if you throw such bitter words to your "CUSTOMERS" from Japan who would bring in the generous amount of money, why don't you recommend MLB that the game should be held in Tokyo, not in Seoul? The Japanese will go nuts with happiness (LOL)! Oh, you can use a kindness tactic recommending the Dodgers that Ohtani should take a rest for his arm and stay in the U.S., too. ;-)

I love baseball and am thrilled the games will be played in Korea. I am also realistic in Korea's ability to host the games properly. If Ohtani weren't on the Dodgers this would've been a disaster. They already cancelled a previous series that included Ha Seong Kim because of a lack of ticket sales. If tickets are cheap enough people would go, but if tickets are too cheap the event would lose money compared to what the games would've earned in LA and SD respectively. The once in a lifetime chance to see Ohtani is the only reason people will pay what they can't afford to watch this series. Again, I am not speaking for myself, but the Korean baseball public in general.
The 12 days of Ohtani for all MLB Fans (This is Hilarious)
